So You Say You Want a Revolution: Week 2, Period 3

"You all found your way back," Aly said with a teasing smile as the bell rang for the class to begin. "I'd be impressed, but I've met Fandom students before."

"Before we start, I'd like to introduce my TAs for this term - Ino Yamanaka, Rinoa Heartilly, Percy Jackson, and Nico di Angelo. Four isn't usual, I know, but we're trying something new this time around. I'd like each of the TAs to head up a small group of their classmates. When we work in teams or have small discussions, that's the group you'll be with."

She went to flip over the whiteboard to show the groups she'd set up.

*Percy Jackson
Cally
Faramir
Jason Todd
Makita

*Rinoa Heartilly
Cara
Kyle Reese
Leda
Proto

*Ino Yamanaka
Cloud Strife
Karla
Leia Organa
Shira

*Nico di Angelo
Elphaba Thropp
Katniss Everdeen
Luke Castellan

Aly glanced at the groups then back at the class. "If you hate who you're with, talk to me and - yeah, never mind. If you hate who you're with, deal with it. You don't always get to work with your friends when planning a revolution. Pull your desks together, and spend some time getting to know each other if you don't already.

"Last week we talked about the reasons why you personally would rebel against a government. What I'd like you to do today is to stay in the small groups and talk about why you - as a group - would rebel against something. You can look at it seriously or rebel against mandatory cheerleading uniforms for the whole school, but remember, revolutions aren't put together by one person. It's always a group effort. So today, let's start with that."

"Both, though moreso the transporting, I think," Karla said. "He's being watched and his movements tracked; there's no real question of where his loyalties lie. He knows his mail is being read, too. He can vanish things that he can't afford to leave lying around, but there's a limit to what he can carry. Not to mention, if there was someone shielding their presence from him, he might not notice until it's too late."

Considering Morton wore the Rose, finding someone with a darker Jewel to spy on him wouldn't be that difficult.

"As for me, I can't form my Court until I make my Offering to the Darkness. The earliest that can be done is seventeen, but it's usually better to wait a little longer." Hmm. She probably needed to explain that a little better. "The Offering is where I come into my full, adult strength. Rushing it means I might not reach my full potential."

"I appreciate the elaboration," she said, smiling faintly. It gave her more to work with at the least. "Could he work in code? Something silly--gardening, perhaps? If they don't have time to break the code, someone just reading it over his shoulder wouldn't think much of that, right?"

"That's a little of what we do now," Karla said, brushing her hair back out of her face. "He can't openly write to me, because they can't know we're in contact. So he writes letters to his friend Rolf and tells me, in vague terms, what's going on. And then in more detail when he can slip away to the Hall and send me messages then."

But traveling to Dhemlan took hours on the Rose Wind, which meant he couldn't do that often. Nor could he take a Coach on a darker Wind, because that was far too easy to track.
