Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
The recent cold front had been a welcome weather pattern as far as Zoe was concerned, and she was very grateful for how things had turned out today - it was sunny and breezy, and just cool enough that no one would pass out from heat exhaustion. Hopefully.
Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with drinks and food, including an entire table ofmoddable different ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.
[OCD is up! Have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

[iiiii might disappear until about 5 EST, omg.]
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2010-2]
Though she was not best pleased with having been assigned a sibling (look at her track record with her real sibling), complaining was a pointless and futile endeavour, and part of her was delighted to have been given a responsibility.
Her eyes picked out a thin girl--too thin, really, in a way that reminded Rosalind far too much of the slums--with dark hair and, upon inspection, of the other match ups, came to the only possible conclusion.
"Katniss." That wasn't a question, no. Rosalind severely doubted she was wrong.
[NP!]

"Yes," she said, something that was almost amused flickering through her eyes for a moment before disappearing and leaving her cool and aloof in appearance. "I've been assigned to be your 'sibling'," Rosalind continued, "which is Fandom Island short-hand for being the person meant to help you adjust here."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2010-2]
"They don't think I can adjust on my own?" she asked, actually quirking a little smile.

"That portal," she said, keeping her voice crisp and almost painfully professional in an attempt to not sound insane. "Is a gateway to another world. Upon passing through that portal, you left your world behind. Fandom Island is a place that rests on an intersection of multiple universes. Most people here are from worlds you have never heard of and they will not be aware of your world."
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2010-2]
"How does it work?" she asked eagerly, dropping her voice a bit. "I'm in another world? Really?"
Re: Meet Your Big/Little Sibling [Summer 2010-2]
That was useful, Rosalind.
"In short, consider the universes as separate streams. Some of them diverge only a small amount and so there as similarities between the worlds--one world might be ten years behind another, but the same in all other respects. Other worlds diverged a great deal more leading to completely different worlds with no connection to the one we're standing one, whether it is in name, time, or geography."

"It's unlikely that it's normal for your time," Rosalind said. "Or what is known, is not the full story."
