bigdamnprincipal: (i am having a picnic)

Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The recent cold front had been a welcome weather pattern as far as Zoe was concerned, and she was very grateful for how things had turned out today - it was sunny and breezy, and just cool enough that no one would pass out from heat exhaustion. Hopefully.

Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with drinks and food, including an entire table of moddable different ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[OCD is up! Have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

For John, it was weird coming to one of these things again after eleven years away. Weirder still that he wasn't going to run around shirtless, trying to figure which new kid would be the first bit and which would refuse to accept the tales of insanity.

But this new weird couldn't stop John from smiling that he was back someplace where he'd belonged even for a little while. It helped there was food.

"You look like a fucking Sheppard," Loki said, wandering up. "Am I right? I've been honing my psychic abilities."

Or he maybe remembered John from his previous time on the island. Hair like that was hard to forget.

It was...that guy! From the thing that time! Okay, those times. John kind of failed at names these days.

"That all depends on what I get for you being right," he replied, trying to decide if the greeting was for good or bad intent.

"A spanking?" Loki asked, going right for the teasing since he could.

"Well, it has been a while since I had to full Fandom treatment," John smirked. The teasing was far to easy to go along with.

"I don't know if you want me to take you over my knee right here or wait till later," Loki said, giving John a wink. "I'm very welcoming."

John's casual attitude didn't falter at the wink. "I'd say here, but I'd hate to give the kids too much of a show from their teachers. I seem to remember them being the ones who're supposed to be making us headtilt."

"Hey, they might even fucking learn something if we do it right here," Loki said, smirking. "You a prude?"

"Nah, but I see you've managed to keep all your clothes on when--" John glanced around and it only took a second for him to point out at least two shirtless boys. "--they're already half naked."

Jaina had one reason and one reason only not to be standing off to the side and waiting to see whether anyone here was going to cause her trauma, and look, there that reason was!

She was oddly nervous about seeing him here like this, but it couldn't keep the smile off her face as she walked up to him, greeting with, "Hey, stranger."

"And here I am without any candy to my name," John replied, smirking just a touch. Again, it was weird to see her where she belonged as a recent grad when he was now in a very different situation.

"That is disappointing," she said, trying for a serious face and failing. "What else do you have for me?"

John frowned, shoving his hands into his pockets to check. "Uh...I can offer you a gum wrapper, two quarters - and hey, those could get you halfway to a Coke!" He stopped himself from offering her the shiny rock from Atlantis because that was his.

"Hmm." She pretended to consider this. "I was hoping there was at least a hug in there for me, but I guess you forgot that in your other pants."

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh a hug! See, I think that was in my jacket. I'll have to go back for it later." John was just going to keep this going as long as he could. Annoying her was part of the fun of life.
solo_sword: (yeah sure)

[personal profile] solo_sword 2010-07-03 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really annoyed, she gave him one of those annoyed looks anyway. "You're getting a hug now. Deal with it," she said, moving to do so. "It's not jacket weather anyway." This might not be true, but she did not care.

"Hey, hey, hey!" John said, putting his hands up and backing away. "Hands off the staff members. We can't go giving the other young girls ideas."

"Damn, Sheppard, you got old." Chuck thought that was actually a nice greeting, scarily enough.

"And you're still short. Strange how some things never change," he answered, oddly happy despite the total unfairness that Chuck was still young and attractive.

"I make up for it in other areas," Chuck said smugly. "What the hell are you doing here?"

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Summer 2010-2]

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
The smirk was strong as John replied. "Oh you know, teaching the best and brightest Fandom has to offer."

Okay, so he didn't actually expect them to be bright or really give a shit about school - which was why his class was about chilling on the beach.

[identity profile] rocksthescarf.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Seriously? Wow, they must be desperate," Chuck said. "What is your class on, a step by step course on how to get just-rolled-out-of-bed douchebag hair?"

[identity profile] missed-the-gate.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, nothing made John feel more at home than someone mocking his hair. "There you go, spoiling the first class for everyone," John sighed. "I shouldn't have to tell you the second week's all about how to let go of daddy's money and be a real person."

"Ah, so you're creating a whole new generation of losers," he said. "I weep for our future."

Of course he did. "Shouldn't you be pleased? More little people to do the dirty work."
