Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

The recent cold front had been a welcome weather pattern as far as Zoe was concerned, and she was very grateful for how things had turned out today - it was sunny and breezy, and just cool enough that no one would pass out from heat exhaustion. Hopefully.

Beneath the blue and gold streamers and balloons, tables had been set up with drinks and food, including an entire table of ~~moddable~~ different ice cream flavors. As always, there was a stack of nametags set down next two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[OCD is up! Have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"You look like a fucking Sheppard," Loki said, wandering up. "Am I right? I've been honing my psychic abilities."

Or he maybe remembered John from his previous time on the island. Hair like that was hard to forget.

It was...that guy! From the thing that time! Okay, those times. John kind of failed at names these days.

"That all depends on what I get for you being right," he replied, trying to decide if the greeting was for good or bad intent.

"A spanking?" Loki asked, going right for the teasing since he could.

"Well, it has been a while since I had to full Fandom treatment," John smirked. The teasing was far to easy to go along with.

"I don't know if you want me to take you over my knee right here or wait till later," Loki said, giving John a wink. "I'm very welcoming."

John's casual attitude didn't falter at the wink. "I'd say here, but I'd hate to give the kids too much of a show from their teachers. I seem to remember them being the ones who're supposed to be making us headtilt."

"Hey, they might even fucking learn something if we do it right here," Loki said, smirking. "You a prude?"

"Nah, but I see you've managed to keep all your clothes on when--" John glanced around and it only took a second for him to point out at least two shirtless boys. "--they're already half naked."

"I'm kind of fucking pale," Loki said, shrugging. "Wouldn't want to blind anyone. Besides, they'll be getting the fuck bit out of them by mosquitoes."

"And what, there's no point working on your tan if it means a bug attack? Sounds like a sad way to live to me," John told him, looking very very sad for Loki.

"Your shirt's still on, old man," Loki pointed out. "What's your excuse?"

"Hey, you leave the island for eleven years, you gain some scars you'd rather not have questioned," John told him. A weird vaginal handprint on the chest would do that for anyone.

Loki so wished he could read minds right about now. "Don't chicks dig scars?"

"Chicks talk about scars. Talking is...over rated." Very much so.

"Aww, are you a never nude?" Loki wondered. "Too chickenshit to take off his clothes?"

"Yeah, that was always an issue living in the cabins," John lamented fakely.

"Hey, if you've been away, maybe you've turned into a prude since then," Loki said, sighing. "Too bad. I'm sure your scars would be fine. Chicks dig 'em. And some chick don't talk."

"We obviously know different chicks," John realized. Which was probably a good thing, since Loki and Jaina would be weird. "I'm just generally hoping no one I ever dated returns to be in my class."

"That'd be some fucked up 'Don't Stand So Close' shit right there," Loki said, snickering. "She'd want to bone you just for a good grade! At least it wouldn't make you feel old?"

"Hey, I'm only twenty-nine," John pointed out. "I've got another dozen years before I'd call myself old."

"I'm like a thousand and some change, kid," Loki said, laughing outright now. "Me calling you old is the pot calling the fucking kettle black. Just trying to get a rise out of you."

"Well hell, I forgot about all you ancienty people running around the island looking like teens," John said with a laugh. "So what is it you teach the kids? How to keep your hair from showing the gray?"

"I teach a little of everything," Loki said, shrugging. "Going with a Heroes v Villains class this time around. See if I can't crush some preconceived notions."

"Now that is a class I could've used in my day," John said thoughtfully. "Gonna talk about the guys who switch sides?"

"Traitors?" Loki nodded. After all, he'd almost ended up as one. "They deserve some attention too, I think. People look at the ends but never concentrate on the means."
