DADA for Muggles, final class [Wednesday]

It had taken Remus and Sirius slightly less time this go around to program the Danger Room to do what they wanted (Sirius contended it was because it had threatened the computer with a good hexing, but that was debatable), but for a final examination, the professors felt that a bit of effort should be expended.

"Welcome to your exam," Sirius said with a slightly fiendish smile, extending his hand to encompass the scene before them: a large grassy area (complete with a different castle in the background. They missed Hogwarts a bit, so hush) covered in a variety of obstacles. "Hopefully you remember what you have learned. You will encounter a series of practical exercises in order for us to determine how prepared you are to face the Dark Arts in every day life. Good luck. If you get too hexed to continue, Professor Lupin and I will step in, but I don't think that will be entirely necessary."

"If I picked up a handful of snow, it wouldn't be a bit of anything," he said, shaking his head. "Now, though, I almost regret not picking up some snow because it would have given me the excuse to share the ensuing color on my skin with you like you did your glitter awhile back."

Yeah, he still remembered that.

"Now, I don't have an excuse to touch you," he said, shaking his head. "Sad."

It had made sense aylt the time! She was sharing the glittery love, that was all.

"You don't normally need an excuse." This was Alex, after all.

And he would have been sharing the Christmas color love! It was parallelism in a way. They were a very sharing pair, after all.

"No, I don't," he agreed and took that as an invitation to reach up and settle one hand on the side of her neck, thumb brushing along her skin. Considering where he was, it was kind of needed. And he wanted to prove that he didn't need an excuse.

"I really hate vampires," he shared after a moment's pause, a little quieter than he'd been talking.

They weren't something that honestly bothered Effy much, but then again, she'd avoided the trauma he'd been subjected to. Knew she'd got lucky there, too.

"Don't see one yet," she noted, briefly glancing to one side to check. That was comforting, right?

"I'll be fine if it stays that way," he said, not doing any looking for himself. He'd gladly just keep watching her and let her do any looking. "This is my last final, at least. Yay for me. When's your last one?"

"Friday," she answered, looking back at him. "Only one that sounds like it might be work, too." This did not count as work. "Last one was multiple choice, and about sex."

"Sure you did well on that one. I'd ask you to educate me but I think I'm on par with you there," he said and smirked, sliding his hand down a little more towards her shoulder. "Wanna do something this weekend, enjoy the end of classes with me?"

Well. They'd gone out before and it wasn't like going out with her was a hardship or anything. Considering everything else, he figured he'd be proactive and see if she was interested.

"Don't have anything else planned." Which was almost 'yes, I'd like that. Almost.

Even if she had had plans, she'd probably have found a way to work around them. "Something worth celebrating."

Almost. Alex was used to those sort of answers by now. He'd kind of had to if he wanted to figure out half of what she was saying sometimes. Naturalistic observation.

"Got a preference on days?" he asked, taking her response as an affirmative, yes. "Figured we could go shoot pool or something. Drink. Worked well enough last time we did it."

And Alex was all about going for the comfortable, familiar when they were both wading in unfamiliar waters with all this.

"Hope they don't remember. Might throw us out pre-emptively." An idea that mostly amused Effy, actually.

"Free Saturday?"

"If they do, I'll find someplace else," he promised. "I'm not a one trick pony."

Multi-talented and vastly skilled, that's what he thought he was. And he liked to think he could back most of that up with his actions.

"I'm free Saturday." Easy to say that when he had no plans. "My schedule's easily cleared."

"Not anymore." But not a change in his schedule she had any problem with, oddly enough.

Effy stepped a little closer with a grin, "And I never thought you only had one trick."

"You of all people should know I don't have one trick," he said, lowering his voice and matching her grin with one of his own. "I think that's why you...hang around me so much."

Still being careful around words, yes. Progress or not, words were still scary especially in a somewhat public setting.

"Don't worry," he said, shrugging one shoulder, "it goes both ways."

Somewhat public, and quite likely within the vicinity of Griff, who would probably be immensely smug at their proximity alone. He didn't need any more proof.

"Should hope so." It would be sad if that sort of thing wasn't reciprocated somehow. "Don't think you'd go inviting me out otherwise."

"I invite you out because I want to see you," he told her, shrugging. "Figured that was obvious."

Or maybe it wasn't. He wasn't the most outgoing guy in terms of those type of things but, then again, neither was she.

"It is the way most people work," she remarked. Not that he was really 'most people', but still. "Only other option was some grand evil plan. Decided that wasn't it."

"Don't think I'm capable of being evil?" he asked, snickering. He thought he could be evil. Well, maybe not evil, but mean and cruel were things he could do and had done. "Must be losing my edge."

"Don't think you'd take me out for drinks and pool to be evil," she clarified, smirking a little. "Not your style."

"Oh yeah?" Yeah, she was right. He wouldn't do that. Not his style. "Think you've got a pretty good handle on my style, do you?"

Pretty confident she did, yeah. All that time spent around him and all.

"I'm right, aren't I?"

"...yes." Well, that honesty was just going to make her a lot more smug than she had been. "Shut up, that just means I'm not that hard to read."

Except how he kind of was.

"Don't be smug." He figured he'd say it even if he knew it was a futile request. She'd be smug.

With him mentioning it, she was just going to be giving out more. Even with everything going on between them, she was still going to enjoy getting under his skin like that.

"Aw, why not?" She had been right, he'd admitted it, it was allowed.

"Because I said don't be smug," he said, making a face. She so easily listened to him and all, after all. Of course.

"And you're making me regret that I didn't lie to you about that, make you doubt yourself about how well you know me."

"There's something wrong with liking that I do know you?" she wondered.

Because, okay, smug. But that was just a form of enjoyment from her.

"There's nothing wrong with that," he relented, shaking his head and giving her a glare that was more teasing than anything. "Do you like that you know me that well?"
