Ethics [Thursday, November 19, 1st period]

Today Anakin's desk was covered with droid babies in bassinets.

Each baby had a tiny stuffed Ewok tucked next to it. Shh.

"Today we talk about lust," Anakin said. "Or rather, the unintended consequences that can happen when you take action without precautions."

He smiled. "Meet your little projects for the next two weeks. They're heavy, they cry, and they will record everything you do with them. So if you stuff them into a closet for the duration, believe me, I'll know."

After all, he'd built all of them.

He reached for a list of paper. "Some of you I've paired together, some of you are single parents." His smile turned a little evil. "Some of your babies are a little fussier than others."

Bobby had had an absolutely horrible week, culminating in getting freaking electrocuted yesterday (by his teammates, even. Nice, huh?). Not to mention the near-fistfight he'd gotten in to with Scott over a subject suspiciously close to today's lecture.

So, yeah, he was just going to drop his head to the desk with a distinct thump.

Bobby lifted his head up and gave Kyle a genuine, if not very energetic, smile back with a shrug of one shoulder.

Kyle looked intently at Bobby for a few long seconds, then returned the smile reassuringly. He had a feeling whatever kept Bobby away from school had sucked, but he seemed okay and that was enough.

Sucked was... apt, yes. He flicked his eyes to Professor Skywalker, then shrugged again in a sort of 'I can explain later if you want' sort of way.

It was very similar to the expression on Emma's face, actually.

"Is he mental?" she hissed, leaning towards the other girl. "If we're not to be trusted because we don't think of consequences, what makes him think we won't accidentally blow up the robot?"

"I thought 'don't forget the condom' was the lesson for sex-ed, not ethics," Emma complained. "If we want to learn about the consequences of lust, watching soap operas would be a better use of our time, although not by much."

Dammit, she thought she only had to deal with this in Bond's ludicrous sex education class. Apparently she was mistaken.

Jonas...really didn't have any valid thought processes or ways to understand this. He was just left staring and slightly frightened of how bad he would be at this exercise.

...Liir was more troubled by the idea of caring for a tik tok than he was with the idea of caring for an actual living being. He'd taken care of enough varied young Animals (and an older woman on her last legs) to where the idea wasn't particularly troublesome.

But the fact that it was a fake baby...

Because that's what Maron was doing--taking care of fake babies was way better than anything she had Tara had thought up concerning lust.

Nooooooooo. Angela was pretty sure this wasn't happened. She couldn't be expected to even carry one of these around all the time, could she? She wasn't even the parenting type, would that count for anything?

And she'd need a new bookbag to stick this thing in. The one she had wouldn't fit a droid baby.

Tara couldn't help but sneak a couple glances toward Maron during the lecture. This wasn't the kind of bad they had worried about over ice cream; this was an entirely new and different kind of ... possibly not bad.

Tara might change her mind about that one in a few days.

This was... no. Just no. Emma had tried when Cordelia was a baby, and look how that sister had turned out. Giving her a baby -- even a droid baby -- was a Bad Plan.

Perhaps Karla could point out to Anakin that, as a Healer, she knew all about the unintended consequences of sex. Hell's fire, she drank the contraceptive brew every morning and she was still years away from her Virgin Night. If there was anyone in class who didn't need an object lesson, it was her.

Perhaps Anakin would listen to reason?

Karla glanced over at him and sank lower into his seat. His psychic scent was not one of someone interested in listening to logic. It was one of far too much amusement at his students' expenses.

*Ben, I am so less than pleased with your grandfather right now,* she sent on a very focused psychic thread. *You get to help babysit the...thing.*

*Babies?! What do I know about babies!?!* she said with a psychic wail of her own. *This one's not even real so I can't even Heal it is something goes wrong!*

Thank the Darkness she was paired with Francine. Otherwise the child wouldn't survive the class period.

*He just made them ugly so there's no question of them possibly comparing with his daughter,* Karla sent, keeping that thought under very tight shields.

*I don't know anything, either! The last time I held a baby, I dropped it!* She sent Emma an image of a very young, Karla accidentally dropping an infant. Wee!Karla caught the baby with Craft before it hit the floor, looking very proud of herself as she did so. The adult in the room appeared less pleased; hastily grabbing the baby and sending Karla from the room.
