DADA for Muggles [5th period]

Today, the class was set up as a perfectly normal classroom, with one exception: there was a television at the front, and Remus, for one, was sporting a part of mildly-singed eyebrows due to his prior struggle with it.

"Good afternoon," he said evenly. "Today we'll be having a rather light day, I'm afraid. I'm certain you're all terribly upset about that. We'd like you to tell us about your attempts to disarm one another. What worked? What didn't? How were your experiences with the assignment?"

"And after that," Sirius said happily, "we'll watch a movie!" On the third DVD player of the day. Shh. They didn't think to ask the TAs for help. "It's completely inaccurate when it comes to witchcraft, of course, but the women are very attractive."

Effy shrugged casually. "Fine."

No, really, that was about her assessment of how it went. She'd never intended to fight the guy or anything, and she hadn't, so...

"It was a tie," Alex said, shrugging. Considering he hadn't really tired and all. "Draw. No one said uncle."

Right. Francine had been thinking about making him cookies. Somehow she got a little distracted.

Much like now, when she closed her eyes at uncle and murmured, "Right. No one said that."

"We talked," Didi said, glancing to Andy. "The tactic he wanted to use didn't work, so we called it a draw."

Dinah looked over at Alice, then said, "Alice won. By explaining her strategies. I thought it would be like getting into a land war in Asia, so I conceded."

Alice shrugged. "Dinah felt it was unfair to ask her not to use her telekinesis," she noted, "but also felt that using my tactics and strategies would be equally unfair, even the ones which only involved well-placed threats. I reminded her that actual fights hardly rest on niceties, she began speaking of Sicilians, and I convinced her to concede, on the basis that we had thoroughly different expectations of the assignment."

Firekeeper glanced over at Edmund, who was still a pony.

"He is horse. I am wolf," she shrugged. It was fairly obvious to her who won.

.... it involved burying someone --- admittedly someone who deserved it --- in the yard and being haunted by his ghost. Francine would just be putting her head down on her desk. Because it was cool, and she had a headache. Yes.

Alex could deal with movie days any day of the week. He leaned back in his chair and found himself half paying attention to the movie and half goofing around on his phone. Between the random games and the text messages to different people, today was a busy day.

Sam didn't think the movie was that bad, although he couldn't stop himself from mentally critiquing the grave digging. Old habits died hard sometimes.

Jenny wondered if anyone would notice if she snuck her flask out of her bookbag. She could tolerate all the people in this movie, but somehow it all came together into something that grated on her nerves. Le sigh.

And... tada! Ears.

Ears and a wizard, actually. But those were just triffling details.

Sirius was watching the redheaded witch avidly. He wasn't really here for the plot, no.
