Physical Films | Period 3 | Class 3

Over the weekend, Ronon had caught a viewing of Dirty Dancing and decided that his students would enjoy a chance to show off their skills or their lack of skills. This led to the Danger Shop taking on the form of a terribly dusky room with a large screen blaring scenes from the movie.

When they'd assembled, Ronon paused the scene. "Today your movie clips are the dance scenes from some movie that declares no one can put Baby in the corner. After you get your uniforms on, I'll assign you to a partner, with one of you dancing as Baby and the other as Johnny. We've got an even number, so no one's lucky enough to be carrying the watermelon." Ronon smiled widely at that image even if it wasn't to be.

"But first, you've gotta learn how to dance. Luckily this movie's a how-to. Pick a scene and recreate it. Enjoy."

When students returned from the dressing rooms, they would be assigned to these partnerships. Baby is in red; Johnny in blue.

Laughing, George ducked under her hand. "Wasn't tryin' t'make a case. Was tryin' t'get a dance from a lass."

"The lass' going to walk off if you don't hurry up," she told him. She really was curious to see if he'd stay off her toes.

He rolled his eyes and reached up to catch that hand. "Twas waitin' for th' lass t'say yes before assumin'," he protested. "Wouldn't want t'be forward.

"Because you'd never be forward," she deadpanned, but she let him catch her hand this time.

"Never," he agreed, tugging her into a dance position and starting with the music.

"Honest as dirt," she nodded and her hand came up to rest on his shoulder as she followed him.

"Don' insult me like tha'!" George argued, trying to give her the lost puppy look.

It didn't work, she was mostly watching his collar or his ear. She wasn't used dancing with someone actually shorter than her. If she didn't count her brothers...

"I didn't think I'd be able to insult you," she said innocently.

"An' yet ye keep tryin'," he smirked. "Ye must be carin' an awful lot."

"Just bored," she corrected as she noted he wasn't a bad dancer.

"Must be borin' yerself if tha's all ye can think of t'do," he teased.

She rolled her eyes at him. "It's not me that's boring me."

"Tis th' school?" George asked innocently. "Nothin' t'distract ye?"

There was truth there, but she'd not meant to bring it up. "The films was funny," she mused idly.

He raised an eyebrow. "An' tha's it?"

It wasn't Dog work, but she needn't think about it. It wouldn't help. "Are you fishing for compliments now?" she teased.

"At least 'm keepin' ye entertained," he teased back.

"And you've not stood on my toes yet," she said thoughtfully. "I'd be almost impressed."

"I wouldn' be standin' on yer toes," George said, pretending to be offended. "'M a good dancer!"

"You might be in this class," she mused, glancing around for an instant.

He scowled at her than flung her out in a turn. "Ye do know how t'wound a lad."

"I'd no idea you cared that much," she threw back. Her hand slid from his shoulder as she easily spun round before she let him lead her back towards him.

She tilted her head, considering it. "It's just homesickness?"

He nodded, understanding that a bit. "Tis a good bit different from home."
