Driver's Ed [Thursday, Week 7, Period 5]

"This summer seems to have gone by so quickly," Ziva remarked as everyone sat down. The Danger Shop looked like a classroom for the moment, but the way she was grinning might have given everyone a clue that it wouldn't stay like that for long. "But you have all been working very hard, and I believe that you are ready for your final test."

"It might not be a surprise to learn that I enjoy action movies, and that I also love a good car chase," she said. "This one from the Bourne Supremacy in case the link doesn't work in particular is my favorite and it would do you well to pay attention." Once she'd finished the clip, she eagerly hit the Danger Shop controls, and the classroom turned into a Russian marketplace.

"Welcome to Moscow," she said. "Your final test is going to use many of the skills you learned here, to get through a modified version of that car chase. Of course, no one will be shooting at you, and if you crash, you will simply end up back here. Your goal is to get from outside of this market to the end of the tunnel with yourself and your car still intact." She showed them the course they'd be driving on a map, to try to make it clear where they should go. Getting lost was so not the point today. "You may drive on your own, or with a partner, it is entirely up to you." She gave them an excited little clap before waving them off. "Go on, let us see how well you do."

[OCD is up!]

Effy was really more used to manual cars, but it would hardly be a complicated transition. Less things to think about, not more.

She picked herself out a car, with only a little nose wrinkle at the condition, and considered if she thought a partner for this sort of thing was a good idea.

Yeeeeah there was no way Francine was driving that. Not at the speeds she usually drove; she wouldn't make it to the highway before class was over. "Need somebody to ride shotgun?" she asked Effy.

Effy nodded carefully, and gave Francine an appraising look over.

"Any good at staying calm?" Because the worst thing had to be having someone screeching painfully loud in your ear when you were trying to speed around corners.

Dinah grabbed a car, and looked around to see if anyone else with a deathwish wanted to ride with her.

For some things, Jack would be willing to ride shotgun. For this? Driver's seat all the way.

Jack hopped into a taxi, wishing it was a stick shift so he could do nifty things like in the video.

If anyone wanted to hop in, better do so quick before Jack floored it.

Leda had a bit of pent up energy to release, so this would work out well. The car being dirty didn't bother her at all. Most of the vehicles in Bordertown were jury rigged jobs anyway.

Ooooooh. Alice enjoyed the taxi being dirty. It added character.

Dinah looked behind her, eep'd, then punched the gas.

Aiiiiieeee!

This was kind of fun!

Windy roads were the best roads, as Jack slammed on the gas after dropping the shifter into Drive. The taxi fishtailed slightly as the tires lost grip off the line. Jack's grin lit up the whole cab as he barreled into the first turn.

"Woohooooooo!" Leda whooped, and put pedal to the metal. "Catch me if you can silver suits!"

Effy was used to the little country roads around Bristol. This was her place.

When the lights appeared, she glanced up into the rearview mirror with a quirk of a grin. "Get this started, shall we?"

And with that, she put her foot down.

Oh Francine. You might've picked the wrong girl to take this particular final with.

Oh Effy. It could be worse. It could be so much worse. You could be making this drive ten years from now with a pregnant Francine.

Going fast, Alice found enjoyable. Not hitting other cars while going fast? That was, to be honest, rather more difficult. She figured that she was allowed a small graze or two -- after all, the gentleman in the video had damaged his car quite a bit.

Shitshitshitshit. Sidewalk? Traffic? Sidewalk.

Those poor pedestrians.

Dinah so wished she had a Batmobile to just fly over all this.

Lacking that, she muscled her car into any tiny gap she could find and cut off everyone else with impunity.

"God I wish this was a motorcycle." Leda sighed, but began aggresively weaving around. She may have scratched a few paint jobs.

This was a particularly good time to dodge and weave and use all the gaps between cars possible.

Everyone else was kindly following the rules, staying in their own lanes, leaving space to their left and right. How nice for her. That gave her plenty of room to chart her own path.

Well, perhaps not plenty, but she hadn't been using that rear-view mirror anyway. She wouldn't miss it.

Jack thoughtfully put on the hazard lights to warn oncoming drivers that he was crazy and coming right for them.

Too bad the lights weren't working after all the smashing into things he'd done to the poor car.

"Get out of the way!"

This was the part that messed Alice up. All the cars were coming towards her! And swerving to get away from her, which meant she had to change the way she was swerving, and it wasn't as though she could slow down, considering she was still being chased.

Alice settled for screaming, loudly.
