Driver's Ed [Thursday, Week 7, Period 5]

"This summer seems to have gone by so quickly," Ziva remarked as everyone sat down. The Danger Shop looked like a classroom for the moment, but the way she was grinning might have given everyone a clue that it wouldn't stay like that for long. "But you have all been working very hard, and I believe that you are ready for your final test."

"It might not be a surprise to learn that I enjoy action movies, and that I also love a good car chase," she said. "This one from the Bourne Supremacy in case the link doesn't work in particular is my favorite and it would do you well to pay attention." Once she'd finished the clip, she eagerly hit the Danger Shop controls, and the classroom turned into a Russian marketplace.

"Welcome to Moscow," she said. "Your final test is going to use many of the skills you learned here, to get through a modified version of that car chase. Of course, no one will be shooting at you, and if you crash, you will simply end up back here. Your goal is to get from outside of this market to the end of the tunnel with yourself and your car still intact." She showed them the course they'd be driving on a map, to try to make it clear where they should go. Getting lost was so not the point today. "You may drive on your own, or with a partner, it is entirely up to you." She gave them an excited little clap before waving them off. "Go on, let us see how well you do."

No, it was never going to be that simple, was it? Looked like fun, though.

Effy was slouched forward on her elbows, watching the video, and considering how this might translate to the final itself.

Alex half watched the video, hating that he was feeling out of sorts today. Couldn't have one week where everything was decent. Just couldn't happen.

Pick Your Taxicab

It's a little dirty, but it drives really well!

For the sake of the simulation, they're all automatic drive. (Boo hiss, stick shifts!) Go out on your own, or partner up with someone.

Effy was really more used to manual cars, but it would hardly be a complicated transition. Less things to think about, not more.

She picked herself out a car, with only a little nose wrinkle at the condition, and considered if she thought a partner for this sort of thing was a good idea.

For some things, Jack would be willing to ride shotgun. For this? Driver's seat all the way.

Jack hopped into a taxi, wishing it was a stick shift so he could do nifty things like in the video.

If anyone wanted to hop in, better do so quick before Jack floored it.

Get to the Highway

To start, you've got to drive the four miles of windy roads from here to the highway.

The catch: As soon as everyone is buckled in safely, a police car will appear, lights and siren blaring. You're going to have to go fast to get to the highway before he catches you.

Get Through Traffic

You've made it to the highway, and now it's only three more miles to the tunnel!

The catch: There's a little bit of traffic. (http://i32.tinypic.com/2aa130w.jpg) Remember when Ziva said the bumper car exercise would be useful? You might want to keep that in mind here.

Get Through the Tunnel

You're almost there! You've only got to drive three more miles to get to the end of the tunnel!

The catch: You've been forced to the wrong side of the road. While there's less traffic, it's all going in the opposite direction. Yes, this is Ziva's favorite part.

"Hi, Ms. David." Dinah came up after the exam, looking sheepish. Yeah, she wouldn't be so interested in how to use practical weaponry to kill demons, Dinah expected. "Sorry I missed last week and forgot to e-mail you. I was in Vancouver helping a friend."

You guys have been such a fabulous class! Ziva's teaching a longer version of Driver's Ed in the fall, and if anyone wants to take it again, that's totally fine. :D
