How to be Awesome | Week 1 | Period 6 | Mon. 7/6

Barney was back. Teaching. It had to be a joke and yet it wasn't. He strode into the Danger Shop like he owned it, blond hair perfect, dark grey suit screaming, 'Why yes, this jacket did cost more than a year's tuition to this school!' With a click of a remote, the room transformed around the class to become a massive department store dressing area with a long covered rack, tables and chairs for students, and a podium for the teacher.

"Today is the first day of the rest of your life," Barney announced, smoothing his tie as he took his position at the podium. "Over the next several weeks, you will be challenged by the most LEGEN- wait for it and I sure hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is -DARY workshop to ever grace the halls of Fandom High. Should you value your Awesomeness and ever want to get laid regularly, heed my words, people.” Barney paused, looking pointedly at certain students who had obviously never suited up in their lives.

"The journey to Awesome starts with the ritualistic destruction of all things denim. No more will you wear your lemming-style jeans, your witty t-shirts, or your--" he shuddered visibly "--cargo pants. To be taken seriously you must and I repeat you WILL SUIT UP!" With that exclamation, Barney hit another button on his remote and the covering exploded off of the rack, dramatically uncovering expensive-looking suits in all shapes (yes, even female ones) and sizes.

Pleased with drama, Barney snapped his fingers to regain student attention at his podium. "These suits are yours to keep, and I expect you to suit up for every workshop this session. No exceptions! If you don’t wear a suit to class, you will earn a special seat in the hell that is Fandom detention. I promise you’ll be thanking me for this before the session is over."

"Now, why should you wear a suit outside of class, you ask? That’s simple, people. Any man--or woman-- serious about the art of consistent layage needs to comprehend the following truism: Chicks love suits. Why? Because men look hot in suits. See Example A,” Barney gestured to his own incredibly hot, suit-clad body. “Wear your suit on a date and your date will be awesome, guaranteed." Okay, not always, but he was working on building hope in these fools this week.

"Now lemmings, I want you to pick out a suit and put it on. There are trick suits on the suit rack. Your first challenge is to select a suit that will work for you without making anyone else go blind. Then, I want each of you to introduce yourself, tell us why you’re in this workshop, and give your level of experience with your preference of women or men." Barney paused and looked around the room. "What are you waiting for? SUIT UP!"

He waited a moment, watching the students before calling out, "Oh and you! Yes, you with the face. Too slow to move, join the grad in glasses as her assistant TA!" It was good to be the king. Even of a class like this.

Chuck was, naturally, already in a suit so this was one assignment he could skip.

Leave it to Harper to find a suit made out of camouflage (http://blog.nola.com/susanlangenhennig/2009/06/medium_colbert.JPG).

Yakko looked at the suits. He was a little disappointed that there was a perfectly decent suit in his size fairly small size. He had brought a pair of scissors to act as his own tailor and everything.

Yakko thought about this.

He grabbed a bigger suit and attacked it with a flurry of snipping. After a couple seconds, he was dressed in the newly small (and strangely perfectly tailored) suit. Honestly, he had preferred the other one, but he just really enjoyed attacking things with scissors.

After a good amount of searching, Bobby finally found a suit he liked. That didn't stop him from tugging at the sleeves nervously after he'd put it on, though. Warren might be used to these things but Bobby was strictly a jeans and t-shirt kinda guy.

Elena hadn't worn a suit today -- she was retired, after all -- but somehow, given the atmosphere, she didn't mind suiting up.

She was able to find a sleek black suit (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/Rellyjean/elena/chopper2_nobandage.jpg), one nearly identical to the Turks' standard uniform. It felt wrong, not having her handgun strapped on. It was a vital part of suiting up. Such was life.

Next week, she was wearing the real thing.

"Didn't take you long to get back in a suit," Layla mused.

"Less than a week," Elena agreed. "It doesn't feel right without the holster, though."

"The class is mostly how to score with your dates though," Layla noted. "You won't need a gun for that."

Layla just reached into the rack and immediately grabbed one (http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/prodpri2/V265411_103.jpg) her size. She was happy with the skirt as it would look great with her striped leggings.

Alex leafed through the array of suits before finding one (http://www.menswearhouse.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay_10051_10663_10601_140350_-1_10663_BLACK%20SOLID_10051) he liked and tying the tie like a pro. It was one of the few things his sad sack father had taught him.

Effy was not the suit wearing sort.

She was however awesome already, thank you, and thus perfectly capable of finding something appropriate (http://www.myworkwear.co.uk/img/products/brindisi.jpg), and remembering how to arrange her tie.

It made her feel like she was back in school in England. Ugh, uniforms.

With a long sleeve white collared shirt, a black fitted vest, and black dress pants, Eva wasn't sure if what she was wearing could be considered a suit, but it was definitely business attire.

Fiona looked through a few of the suits before coming up with something she thought was rather nice. The colors were bold, without being gaudy, and the fit was comfortable.

Unsure about the odd uniform for this class, Griff pulled the first thing from the rack that seemed to be his size and changed quickly.

It wasn't like Sam never wore suits. He just didn't like them and all their separate pieces and bits that had to be just right. Luckily, he'd managed to find a suit that fit him, and was down to just trying to get his tie straight.

Chuck spent a couple minutes watching Sam fiddle around with the tie before making a frustrated noise and walking over.

"For the love of god, Winchester, let me do that."

"I know how to dress myself," Sam said, even as he stopped messing with the tie. "At least, when I'm wearing normal clothes."

Edward has worn a suit before! Two in fact. He picked one out and changed, confident that he looked handsome.

Claudia, after a few moments examining the suits, finally selected a white one and modified it after a suit she'd seen put together by an avant garde Belgian fashion designer (http://www.trendcocktail.com/gallery/big_003220m1.jpg).

She thought she looked totally dibble.

Blair wasn't in a suit per se but her outfit was worth more than some people in the room. She wasn't changing.

It took a little while for Priestly to find what he was looking for, and he cursed himself for not wearing the prime ingredient of the outfit to class that day. But he eventually found it.

What Barney failed to realize was that, yes, girls loved guys in suits. But they also loved a guy in a kilt.

Jack looked at the racks of suits and tried to decide. This could take a while if he didn't have help.

Hurley actually kinda dug the fact of hey, free suit.

In fact, he allowed that to make up for the serious omgwtf of the rest of what the teacher said.

Sam found himself a suit and changed into it. Whatever, it was just clothes.
