"Layla," he told her. "Layla who knows stuff. I didn't really see her as a flirt. More like...a girl on a mission. She was asking me to take my shirt off before even knowing my name."

"Omigod I know her!" Elle said, laughing. "She knows stuff! She knows stuff that hasn't even happened yet. I think she loves comic books because she was saying all kinds of stuff about universes and AU something. She must be one of those sci-fi girls; totally into the whole monsters in space and flying saucers. And I totally can see why she would ask you to take your shirt off first."

"Aw, that's totally sweet of you to say," she exclaimed with a tiny perky bounce. She got the compliment because guys say it all the time and some even with hand gestures. She didn't understand some of them but a compliment was a compliment and she didn't judge. "I've never had a girl think I was hot. I don't think."

Elle looked up at Hannibal and wondered if there was any amount of teasing in his expression or eyes.

At least he didn't say weird. Everyone was saying weird today.

"Odd as in... boys and girls sharing a dorm room? Because my super cute roommate shared a room with a boy whose gone now but that kind of odd?"

"Then I have to thank you for your thoughtfulness because it's so sweet of you to care like that. I totally appreciate that characteristic in people. This is my first boarding school and while shocked Adora lived with a boy, I suppose getting used to co-ed dorms won't be so bad. Just as long as no one passes out from seeing underthings because I would hate to have that on my conscience."

"Oh, you know Adora?" Hannibal started grinning immediately. "If you know her, she'll be really helpful. That's one of my best friends and she might be the nicest person here. And no one should pass out from seeing you in your underwear, trust me. It's not that uncommon here."

"Yes! I'm her new roommate and that's totally awesome that you're one of her best friends. We'll all get along so well and have super fun times together! I'm taking her to the salon because she's never been pampered which I find so sad." Elle was talky. "I hope not but Dor her ex-roomie passed out seeing her in her underthings."

"Dor might have just been...shy," he said. "Some guys are. It just takes them some time to warm up to girls in their underwear."

"Oh. I see your point. And I don't suspect many girls wander around in just their underwear. Hormones would race and everyone would go crazy with the eye candy. I would look and try not to stare much like I'm doing with you right now. I try hard not to be rude. Are you dating anyone? Because that would affect my stare factor even more if you are I think."

"Yes, I've got a girlfriend," he said, laughing a little. "Who's also my roommate and she's around here somewhere. Her name's Angela."

"Oh! Amazing the administration allows couples to share a room." Evidently teen pregnancy wasn't an issue here. That was encouraging at least. "Angela is super lucky to look at you like you are now whenever you have... no clothes on." There had been no other way to end that sentence so she was blushing now, working to hide it behind a grin.

"We weren't dating when we met," he assured her with a laugh. "So, we weren't a couple. We were just friends for a long time. It just...became more after awhile. But yeah, I think she's lucky too."
