Library [05/13]

With workshops going on, there was nothing that could keep Sam out of the library now. He'd gotten away from his cabin early, and had both coffee and a bagel to keep him going through the morning. He wasn't sure if anyone would need the library so early in the term, but he was ready just in case.

"Not to me. Not when it comes to books," Sam said. "It beat spending the morning being bored."

"Point," Dean admitted, opening his sandwich. "So... had a nice little talk with Claire yesterday..."

"Her being hiding under a new identity and Peter and Nathan being dead?" Dean nodded. "Was kinda the main thing we talked about."

Sam frowned at the mere mention of "Peter" and "dead" in the same sentence. "I promised her that her real identity would be safe. It shouldn't be too hard," he replied.

"Yeah." He looked down at his sandwich, then back up at Sammy. "You talk to Peter about the other bit?"

"Yeah. He was more worried about how hard it was on Claire. He doesn't really get concerned about himself," Sam said, frowning even deeper.

"If an alternate version of someone we knew came here and said that you and me were dead where they came from, would you be concerned about yourself?" Dean asked.

"Well then," Dean said, spreading his hands. "Same goes for Peter. You two are a lot alike."

"That just means I'll have to worry about him enough for the both of us," Sam said. "That's not going to happen to him. I promised him."

"I promised Claire the same thing," Dean said wryly.

"With us on the case, she won't need to be worried at all," Sam said, hoping the same went for him. "I'm glad she's here. With Nathan gone, it's nice for Peter to have family."

"Yeah," Dean said, thinking about how it was going to be a little easier to leave at the end of summer knowing that Sammy still had Dad and Zoe and Gracie on the island for him.
