With workshops going on, there was nothing that could keep Sam out of the library now. He'd gotten away from his cabin early, and had both coffee and a bagel to keep him going through the morning. He wasn't sure if anyone would need the library so early in the term, but he was ready just in case.

"No, I'd be worried about you," Sam said automatically.

"Well then," Dean said, spreading his hands. "Same goes for Peter. You two are a lot alike."

"That just means I'll have to worry about him enough for the both of us," Sam said. "That's not going to happen to him. I promised him."

"I promised Claire the same thing," Dean said wryly.

"With us on the case, she won't need to be worried at all," Sam said, hoping the same went for him. "I'm glad she's here. With Nathan gone, it's nice for Peter to have family."

"Yeah," Dean said, thinking about how it was going to be a little easier to leave at the end of summer knowing that Sammy still had Dad and Zoe and Gracie on the island for him.

"I'd wonder if another you might show up, but it wouldn't be the same," Sam said with a grin.

"I'm one of a kind," Dean agreed. "Despite having a face that's oft imitated."

"Yet still recognizable as a separate person, thanks to hairstyle," Sam said.

"I have the best hair," Dean agreed.

"You have the most normal hair," Sam replied. "Not exactly the same thing."

"Totally the best hair," Dean said. "And it's not floppy."

"Hey, my hair is fine, jerk," Sam said, laughing.

"Bitch," Dean shot back. "And it's floppy."

"Peter likes it," Sam said, like Peter knew anything about hair.

"Peter's like the president of the floppy hair club," Dean pointed out.

"Which means he knows what looks good and what doesn't better than anyone else," Sam said, laughing now.

"You just keep telling yourself that," Dean advised. Then he added, "He's got good taste in boyfriends, I'll give him that."

Sam grinned at that. "He just has the patience to put up with me."

"Dude, I've been putting up with you for 17 years. It's not really that difficult."

"You're my brother, you don't have a choice," Sam pointed out.

"That means I have to do it, it doesn't mean it can't be difficult. But for all the grief you may have given me over the years, it's hasn't been. And it isn't." Dean tossed a rolled up napkin at him. "Take the compliment, Sammy."

Sam laughed, and nodded bashfully. "All right, all right. Thanks Dean," he said genuinely.
