Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

It would have been hard not to notice the bare-chested boy from the shuttle, even if there wasn't the faint and delightful aroma of alcohol rising off of him.

Was shirtlessness common here, in 2009? It was an interesting question to explore.

"You look like you're making yourself comfortable," Jack said dryly. "I'm Jack, by the way. We were on the shuttle together."

"Nice to meet you, Tim. Mine was telling me all about how apparently we're supposed to get attacked every so often," Jack said. "She mentioned zombies and some sort of student army. I'm wondering what sort of place this is."

"I've been hearing all sorts of crazy stuff about aliens and superpowers," Riggins said, shaking his head. "Something in the water or something man."

"Did anyone tell you you time-traveled a hundred and ten years and it's just what the island does?" Jack asked. "I'd almost take all the aliens and superpowers and gremlins, if I could get that to make sense."

Jack gave his clothes an exaggerated glance, as if to point them out. "It was 1899 for me when I woke up this morning."

Riggins ran a hand through his hair. "Jesus Christ. This is some insane shit."

Whether that meant he thought the situation was insane or that Jack himself was insane was up for debate.
