Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Since the area with all the informational signs was bound to get a bit clogged up, even more tables and chairs had been set up on the lawn, in a slightly different spot.

"Dinah's my roommate," Claire said. "And, well, I ran into someone I thought was dead. Also? My big brother, Leto, is from another planet."

She shook her head. "Sounds like we're both having very interesting days."

"You know, for once I feel like I fit right in." Something he hadn't had since, well, he was created.

"Oh? Does that mean you're used to all this weirdness?" she asked.

Jon snickered and nodded. "Yeah. Weird is my life."

"What kind of weird?" Claire asked.

He just grinned and held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Jon O'Neill. I like fishing, flying and hockey. And I'm the teenage clone of a fifty-something Air Force Colonel."

Claire blinked. "A clone? Wow. Um, so the military is into cloning where you're from?"

"No, the aliens are. They just have a big crush on the old man and he ended up cloned."

"You're an alien created clone," Claire said. "Okay then."

Jon chuckled and nodded. "Yep."

Claire grinned. "And yet you look so normal."

"Looks can be deceiving. I have three birthdates and remember things that no one my apparent age should." Which was a downer on most days.

"Three birthdates?" she asked.

"Well, there's the old man's birthday, the one on my ID and the day I was actually 'born'." Yes, he used actual fingerquotes.

"Does that mean you get presents three times a year?"

"No. I just celebrate the one on my ID, since it's the same day as the old man's." No need to remember a different day, when he did bother to get gifts that is.

Claire nodded. "So how old are you?"

"Sixteen." Jon grinned. "Why? Planning my birthday present already? You have until October."

"Just wondering," Claire said. "I just turned sixteen last month."

"Yes, but here is the important thing. What year are you from?" Because that totally mattered.

"Right," she sighed. "It's 2007 at home for me. You?"

"2004." Jon grinned. "So, I have to know. Who do I bet on in the Superbowl next year?"

Claire laughed. "Have you ever seen ~~meta for Back to the Future~~."

"Yep. And listened to a real astrophysicist rip apart the science. It was hilarious."

"So, I don't know if you've noticed, but most of the guys around here are shirtless," Claire said. "Apparently it's a tradition."
