Child Development- 1st Period- Class #13

The students coming to class today would find their teacher a little on the late side.

And when she did show (don't even try enacting the five minute rule), she was wordless, dancing the hula to some imaginary music, complete with the outfit.

And then, a couple minutes in, it wore off.

Lily stared at the class, her mouth open in a wide embarrassed "O", and finally rallied, clapping her hands together. "SO. We were going to talk about problems in school today. I... seem to have left my handouts and everything at my apartment somehow. Can't imagine why. So I'd like you all to pair up and discuss a problem a school-age child might have in school and how you would go about dealing with it. And then when you're done... get a stuffed animal from the toy box and cuddle it."

Jen officially loved this week a lot.

She might change her mind later, but right now she just kind of loved it.

This so made up for being a garter snake.

John decided that okay, maybe it wasn't so bad having to show for class today.

Angela was just going to be doing a whole lot of staring.

And some not particularly subtle snickering behind her hand.

Wow.

Claudia was so glad she hadn't worn her grass skirt today.

Claire was staring for a long moment.

This made the whole Elmo thing seems a little more acceptable.

Francine stared, but not the way she would be staring at Marshall in about an hour. This was more a combination Wow, she's really brave and I could so never pull that off.

This was all just adding to Bender's Humans are weird/missing a few components/inferior to robots in general and Bender in particular/up against the wall when the revolution comes (delete as approriate to mood and alcohol level) list.

Jack wasn't sure why he was even here--something was wrong with the cycle--but he wasn't complaining.

It was a lot easier to deal with being in a first period class when your teacher was crazy, Jess thought.

Oo-kay... Peyton looked around for a partner.

Claire rested her arms on the desk and looked around for a partner.

Francine wondered, as she waited for a partner, whether unexpected onstage nudity counted as a school-age problem.

Who was he to ignore the wishes of a hot teacher in a grass skirt? John found a fluffy Gund puppy and gave it a squeeze.

Cuddling stuffed animals? Angela could do that.

Who cared if she was seventeen and supposed to be over that sort of thing.

So there she was, hugging a white cuddly seal. Aww.

Triela spent long minutes searching for precisely the right stuffed bear. She held many of them up critically for consideration, but they all ended up being rejected for one reason or another.

Eventually she nodded firmly and smiled just a bit as she found the perfect cuddling bear. Mmm... teddy bear!

Francine had no trouble finding exactly the right stuffed animal to snuggle. Though the identical twin sitting on her pillows back in her dorm room was slightly more huggable. Possibly she was biased.

Chad had been pretty impressed with the hula dancing, especially since there wasn't any music. It allowed him to supply his own music in his head, which he thought was very cool, even if he didn't know what it had to do with child development. And he was feeling like he should let Ms. Aldrin know.

"Your dance was pretty cool," he told her. "I didn't know you hula'd, Ms. Aldren."
