Sam had woken up late, nearly lost Scout on his morning walk to him chasing after a teal deer, had to get his coffee made twice at the Perk for it to be right, and he was still smiling when he got to the library. It was possible he was still pleased from last night's radio broadcast.

"How's it going?" Peter asked. He set coffee and donuts down on the counter.

"Really well," Sam said, going for the coffee first. "How are you?"

"Not bad," Peter said. He looked around. "Library seems quiet."

"Dr. Jones isn't rooting around in Special Collections this week, so I think it's made the whole place quieter," Sam said. "Not that that's a bad thing, of course."

"You? Like a quiet library?" Peter scoffed. "I'm shocked."

"I know, you wouldn't think I'd like to have peace and quiet to read in. Or to talk to you in," Sam teased.

"Sorry, what?" Peter teased. "I can't hear you."

"Oh, do I need to come closer?" Sam asked innocently.

"Hmm?" Peter said, tilting his head towards Sam as though he still couldn't hear him.

Sam grinned and leaned in as well. "I said you're amazing and wonderful."

Peter leaned in a bit closer as well. "Yeah? Because you are too."

"You're more amazing than I am," Sam insisted. "I heard you talked to Chuck yesterday."

"Maybe a little," Peter said.

"I've got to admit, I didn't expect to hear that," Sam said. "I figured you'd want to avoid a confrontation."

"I wanted to make sure my feelings on the subject were clear," Peter said.

"That he's a great big jerk?" Sam suggested.

"That was one of them, yeah," Peter said.

Sam laughed. "What else was there?"

"That he's not allowed to mess with you," Peter said.

"Somehow, I don't think he's going to go along with that idea," Sam said.

"I left him some reading material to help him think it over," Peter said.

Sam gave Peter a confused look. "You did?

"I did," Peter confirmed. He sipped his coffee.

"Peter, what did you do?" Sam asked, trying to see if he could figure it out from Peter's expression.

"Changed his skin color," Peter said, innocently.
