Library [03/25]

Sam had woken up late, nearly lost Scout on his morning walk to him chasing after a teal deer, had to get his coffee made twice at the Perk for it to be right, and he was still smiling when he got to the library. It was possible he was still pleased from last night's radio broadcast.

"Somehow, I don't think he's going to go along with that idea," Sam said.

"I left him some reading material to help him think it over," Peter said.

"I did," Peter confirmed. He sipped his coffee.

"Peter, what did you do?" Sam asked, trying to see if he could figure it out from Peter's expression.

"Changed his skin color," Peter said, innocently.

"One of Isabel's," Peter said. "It came out a little rainbow-colored. That wasn't on purpose, but I like the effect."

Sam grinned and leaned in even closer to Peter. "Have I mentioned that I love you today? Because I really, really do."

Peter grinned and leaned in closer still. "Nobody messes with my boyfriend."

Hearing that made Sam feel a little warmer, and he felt like he might have been blushing too. "Do you know how hot you are when you say things like that?" he asked quietly.

Peter inched in a little closer, whispering, "Nobody, but nobody messes with my Sam."

"You know, I'm the one who's supposed to look out for you, not the other way around," Sam pointed out. "I mean, that's how it usually is for me."

"I don't remember agreeing to that," Peter told him. "In fact I'm pretty sure we agreed to a mutual thing."

"When it comes to dangerous things, maybe," Sam said. "I didn't know it extended to stuff like this. That's why I've been going to Dean most of the time."

"Hey," Sam said, glaring playfully at Peter. "I'm just not used to this kind of relationship stuff."

"If it was up to me you'll have plenty of time to learn," Peter said.

"I want to have plenty of time," Sam assured him. "Although you'd think almost seven months would be enough time for me to clue in."
