Library [03/25]

Sam had woken up late, nearly lost Scout on his morning walk to him chasing after a teal deer, had to get his coffee made twice at the Perk for it to be right, and he was still smiling when he got to the library. It was possible he was still pleased from last night's radio broadcast.

Sam checked to see if anyone had any overdue books, and checked in all of the books that had been returned.

Sam stayed at the computer and checked his e-mail and a handful of blogs that he liked to track. Okay, maybe more than a handful. RSS feeds made addiction so easy.

Sam had planned on cleaning up the library a little, but it looked like someone had beaten him to it, so he took that as a sign that he was free to go and find a book to read instead.

Sam had brought the drinks for lunch today, and waited for Dean to come by.

Sam was at the desk, still engrossed in his book like a great big nerd.

Sam took a quick sweep through the library before he had to leave.

*starts the coffee IV*

Peter came in at the ususal time with the usual items. "Hey."

Sam grinned broadly at Peter. "Hey to you too."

"How's it going?" Peter asked. He set coffee and donuts down on the counter.

"Really well," Sam said, going for the coffee first. "How are you?"

"Not bad," Peter said. He looked around. "Library seems quiet."

Dean had heard the radio broadcast the night before as well and planned on stopping by Chuck's later to see for himself what had got Emmett so gleeful. But he had just one question for Sammy and it got asked as soon as he entered the library.

"So what did Chuck do this time to send Peter over the edge enough to retaliate?"

Sam had been so gleeful at the idea of Peter knocking Chuck down a few pegs that he hadn't thought about the fact that Dean might hear the same news and wonder about it all.

"He was a jerk in detention," Sam said, passing one of the sodas to Dean. He wanted to come up with an explanation that would satisfy Dean and keep himself out of trouble. "I think it was just the last piece needed to make Peter snap."

"Dr. Jones isn't rooting around in Special Collections this week, so I think it's made the whole place quieter," Sam said. "Not that that's a bad thing, of course."

"What kind of jerk?" Dean pressed as he settled down in his usual chair. "And why is this the first I'm hearing about it?"

"His usual kind of jerk," Sam said, shrugging to try to downplay things. "It wasn't that big of a deal."

"Peter," Dean said, "is one of the most even keeled people that I've ever met. He thought it was a big deal."

"You? Like a quiet library?" Peter scoffed. "I'm shocked."

"Well, it was a big deal for him," Sam allowed. "It shouldn't be that big of a deal to you."

"You do know the more you dodge me, the more I'm thinking there's something to hide," Dean pointed out.

"It was just a stupid dare," Sam said weakly.

Dean gave him a 'go on' look.

"I know, you wouldn't think I'd like to have peace and quiet to read in. Or to talk to you in," Sam teased.

"Detention was like a sleepover," Sam explained. "We had to play Truth or Dare, and before we played...remember how I said John Sheppard won a bet?"
