Movie Appreciation: Week 9, Period 3 (Fri. 3/13)

There'd been a marathon of disaster movies on late Thursday night. It was as if cable television thought the world was going to end and the audiences needed to be prepared. Which led to Ronon's selection of film clips for this week's class. He was mostly amused because it was so rare in Pegasus for a world to be destroyed by something other than Wraith invasion. Or McKay.

Once students had assembled in the Danger Shop-turned movie auditorium, he began his 'lecture.' "A decade ago, movie makers seemed pretty sure Earth was gettin' destroyed by a giant meteor or comet." He played the infamous scene of destruction to prove his point. "That was meta for Deep Impact. Today, we're gonna watch meta for Armageddon and talk about suspension of disbelief." Wikipedia was becoming Ronon's friend for this movie analysis stuff. "So, do you accept the premise and science of the movie and enjoy it without delving deep or do you rip it up by thinkin' too much and ruin the unrealistic special effects for everyone else? Let's watch."

"In fact, yes. That's the point of art, right?" More popcorn sailed at the screen. "This is so cheesy. It deserves some popcorn to go with it. Or to celebrate the huge explosions."

"See, yes!" More popcorn. "Meteor particles!" She grinned at Angela. "How was your week? Are you divorced yet? Or annulled, or whatever. I don't think I've talked to you since your not-really-a-honeymoon."

"Annulled," Angela confirmed with a little breath of laughter. "Yes, I am. It didn't take long."

"And my week has actually been great... crazy attacking birds aside," she said with a nod. "Yours?"

"Congratulations, or, um. Sorry? Heh. Either one," Dinah said. "And it's been good, aside from the harpies. I ended on top of Groovy Tunes with a million people all fighting them, and when I wasn't completely grossed out and scared out of my mind, there were some fun bits." She popped a bite of popcorn in her mouth. "Chad threw me!"

"And hopefully caught you again?" she joked. Chad had done it enough times in cheerleading, that she was sure of that.

"I stayed well out the way." Flying attacking things? Were not for Angela.

"Yup! Three or four times, so I could kick them in the head. We were running out of ammo and they weren't coming any closer, so, we made them mad enough to do that." It probably hadn't been the smartest thing she'd ever done, but at least it had been effective. "Thank God Tony had a magic cleaning spell to get the ick off me afterwards."

Angela pulled a face at the image alone. "Gross," she declared. "That's really gross." She was never going to be one with an especially high tolerance for that sort of thing.

"It really, really was. Are they always like that? The invasions?" Dinah asked, shuddering in remembrance. "I thought they'd be more... fun."

"I don't know," Angela admitted. "I haven't really been around for any. It's usually all turning into stuff, and little cute things."

"I think I'm looking forward to the next cute thing," Dinah said, smiling a little. "And nothing can be grosser than those birds, so I guess it has to get better." She tilted her head, smiling again. "Soooo, if you're not married, you and Hannibal are okay?"

"Oh, we are more than okay," Angela replied cheerfully. With the tone she used, that statement could mean several things.

"Oooo?" Dinah bounced, looking happy. "Awesome! So, it turned out well, after all? Hannibal's not mad now?"

"If he is, he's hiding it really well," Angela said, grinning herself. "The whole situation sort of gave us the push we needed to make it all official."

"Yaaaaay!" More popcorn got thrown in the air. "I'm so glad! Too. Cool." And really reassuring, that even if you messed up like that, your boyfriend might get over it. At least if he was Hannibal. "So just you and him for now, hunh? Or is it still open, but officially together?" Things could be so weird here.

"Exclusively just us," she confirmed, laughing and using one hand to shield herself from falling popcorn.

It was still a little strange to think of, after so long with their relationship as it had been.

Dinah carefully TK'd the bowl to Angela so she could have some that hadn't fallen through the air, and grinned. "Yay. I need to meet him, sometime. I hear about him so much on the Radio, I almost think I know him, but it's not the same. Are you guys doing anything fun this weekend, or celebrating?"

Angela shook her head as she snagged some popcorn. "Nothing planned, but I'm sure we'll figure something out."

"And you should definitely meet him," she said, popping popcorn into her mouth. "Kind of surprised you haven't already. Hannibal's hardly the shy type."

"Come to think of it, he's in my TV Shows class, we just haven't talked during that," Dinah realized. "And he's up on 5th with you, so I never just run into him. Maybe I'll snag him for group work in class soon, and say hi, yay, you're dating Angela, she's awesome."

"Do you have any big plans for your weekend?" she asked in return.

She so would, too. "Edward and I are practicing with swords tomorrow morning. And probably Fight Club again, Sunday night. But otherwise, nope. Maybe I'll hit the pool. I'm still missing the cruise off and on."

"Onsen," she repeated. "It's like this hot tub thing, out in town. It's looovely."
