So You Want to Make a TV Show- 2nd Period- Class #8

Dana was nice today. She set out coffee for the students, figuring those who had to wake up for a second period class on the Monday after spring break might need a little jump-start, so this way they didn't fall asleep and she didn't have to drop a book on the desk near their head or something. That would be just embarrassing for all involved.

"Welcome back, everyone. It sounds like you all had a very interesting week, and hopefully everyone at the very least has sobered up by now," she began, "especially since I'm going easy on you. Let's face it, most of you are only going to be half-paying attention to me today anyway. So I'm breaking from the syllabus and instead giving you all a project due next week. Today we're going to be looking at some of the camera equipment that gets used.

"I have one here that you can check out and try out," she said, patting a camera affixed to a tripod. "You break it, you buy it, and you may have to get down and give me 20. Also, we have smaller, hand-held cameras that you're going to take with you for the week. Find and record some interesting footage for next week's class. When we work on editing, that's what we're going to use to splice things together. Get some action footage, interview someone, just bring me something. It doesn't need to be sports-related, either, so though if you bring me something that we can put in our broadcast, that's a bonus. The only rules are: don't use these in class without explicit permission as I don't want the other teachers to hate me, and do not- do not- use these for anything I'd have to take to the principal. There's a reason you got these after spring break."

Hannibal snagged a camera and took a few seconds of getting familiar with the buttons before he turned it on and tried to focus on someone in the class.

Stuck on zoom, Adora could barely tell who or what she was looking at through the eyepiece of her camera as she whipped it around. "That cannot be hair," she murmured, pausing for a moment.

"It's hair, it's just not on my head," Hannibal said, having stopped moving when he noticed Adora and her camera getting closer.

At the sound of his voice, Adora pulled her eye away from her camera. "Oh! Hannibal, I'm sorry!"

And curious, still. "Wait, what hair was that?"

"You had your camera pointed up my nose," he said and snickered. "So, nose hair."

Adora giggled, "Well, that is certainly not the riveting story I was hoping to find with my camera!"

"What, you don't want to look up my nose?" he teased. "I'm sure you'd find something up there. The way to my small brain, probably."

[identity profile] fabulous-secret.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know that the camera is small enough to find your brain, but I could certainly try," she teased back.

"I think that'd require you sticking the camera up my nose which would hurt," he said. "So, let's just assume that my brain's there and say you could find much more interesting things than me to film. Too bad we didn't have these last week."

"You certainly would have been an interesting thing to film last week," she replied with a small smile. "As would the amazing wildlife and scenery of the islands."

"You barely saw me last week," he said. Little did he know. "How'd you like all that stuff?"

"It was wonderfully warm! Though, it's left me very disappointed in today's weather." Adora needed to learn that pouting about the weather was not attractive. "I could use another day out on the beach."

"You don't like the massive amounts of snow and it being so cold, your hair freezes?" he teased. "Yeah, I could use another week out at the beach. Facing reality is tough."

"It's so odd to take us away from school for a week of amazing activities and then just dump us back." No, she'd never had a vacation before.

"That's typically what a vacation is," he laughed. "It'll take us a few days to get used to being back but then it'll be easy as pie. Never had a vacation before?"

"Ah, I see," she said, not sure if she wanted to get used to the way things were. "Vacation is a new concept, yes. I've gone visiting, but things always seem to happen to make it more like work."

"And the past week was all about you relaxing, right?" he asked, checking. "You didn't try to work, did you?"

Re: Pick up your own camera

[identity profile] fabulous-secret.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
She blinked for a moment, "Um."

"I tried, but it didn't happen so perhaps that was just vacation telling me to stop and relax." Ugh, as if it was possible not to transform when she suspected trouble.

"What sort of work did you do?" he asked. "I can't make sense of anyone finding work to do in a paradise like that."

"Oh, you know...I tried to just make sure everyone was having fun and not in any trouble." Adora had never wished harder for an interruption or a LOOK, SOMETHING SHINY before in her life.

"Of course, then I met the hot tub and it was hard to keep me away from it."

Re: Pick up your own camera

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"The hot tub!" Hannibal said, grinning. "I think I met you in there once."

"Did you? I don't remember. There were ever so many shirtless boys around," Adora replied with a little smile.

"Someone was noticing the scenery," he said, amused. "And I did. Because you said I had magic hands."

He had her there. "Was that you?" Adora pretended to try to remember. "Oh right, the hot tub!"

"Yeah, I don't believe you don't remember," he said. "I had to make the one time I saw you memorable and I think I did."
