201--Speech
Gang, we've had a week off, so we're behind. I need you to step it up. We're going to make speeches on Thursday regarding the elections...3 to 5 minutes on the topic of the week. You have the freedom to say whatever you want, but I expect it to be done well. Use ethos, pathos, and logos. Ok, brainstorm, and I'll be walking around to give you help. Go.

Listen up. Families. What can we say. The accepted theory is that the family unit that is pleasing to us is a microcosm of the social structure...likewise, society is a macrocosm of family. Keeping this in mind...and moving away from the self into the hypothetical, lets talk dysfunction. [Writes DYSFUNCTION on the board] This means literally "to not work" but has many interpretations. We're going to figure it all out today...[flatly] then you'll be the smartest class in the school. Ok, go. Talk. Or I'll set fire to the room.

Chip...you're in deep shi--trouble. I need to talk to you out in the hall.

This is an odd assignment.

She screws up her notes into a ball, disgusted with them, and throws them into the trash from half-way across the room.

The politics have you too messed up to talk about the politics... I'm sure that makes sense to you. :)

As for the other... If I don't make smart remarks like that, people start to think I'm actually bright or something. Can't have that.

And yes, the politics have messed me up. I have an ulcer now. I have named it Raindrop. It is my constant companion and reason to quit smoking. So I'd just as soon commit seppuku as talk about more politics.

Do you have any idea how much less work you have to do when people don't think you're the brains of the operation? I *passed* the Mensa test (but didn't join the club), but you get away with a lot more if people don't expect that much from you.

You named your ulcer? I guess that's no weirder than my dad naming his brian tumor 'Timmy'.

You should quit smoking. The lung cancer will get to you before the ulcer has a chance.

O'Neill named it while we were still wondering if I was carrying squidlets. I'm still thinking of suing the JA for ulcer support, now that Sunshine's off the hook.

Are not an effective method of governing

I'm so not surprised that O'Neill named it. I'm somewhat amazed with *what* he named it, but not surprised that he did it.

You complain that I don't make sense, then hate me when I do. This is a no win situation for me isn't it?

Wow... a bit bitter on the whole politics thing?

O'Neill's as warped as a bad sunproof job on a cheap Pinto. I could ask him how he came up with Raindrop, but I'm afraid to know.

It really kind of is a no-win. No-wins all around, then!

Why would I be bitter? Most of the people I was backing won. Sure, it's wrecked my health, and I'm not even sure that winning was the point for those JA types. I'm re-reading The Art of War just to see if I can figure out if I missed something. Bitter? Nooooo.

POLITICS:
Is a method of dealing with an open system through unseen channels
Is less about worthiness, than influence
Occasionally, resembles prey-predator interaction to an unhealthy degree
Requires more stamina than the actual holding of office....

Have one of the SIMS break up with someone, see what happens.

Someone needs to name a drink the "no-win". Only way something good can come out of that.

Try reading War and Peace. Good book. And by the time you're done, all the current politicos will be 'remember him?'s. :)

I can't get the Sims to get in bed with each other yet, let alone break up. I had to start over after little miss Toaster Slayer took out the house.

You and O'Neill, naming things. We need to find you two a brave new world where you can indulge than tendency.

Good book. And no, I'm not. But the act tends to keep people off their guard, which is all kinds of useful.

You don't want to smoke. Think of it this way... non-smokers don't usually date smokers. Who would want to kiss that? You're opening up your potenial dating pool by exponential numbers if you quit.

I haven't Simmed the school. Yet. It was *actually* Cally playing my Sims that caused the fire. Hense, the yet. She'll be in the next set I build. [insert even laugh]

Oh, that I have to see. Be sure to put in a Principal who shows up to randomly threaten everyone whenever things slow down too much. That, and a meteorite!

I have a boyfriend. Who didn't mind my smoking. But who will probably be glad about the non-smoking. *growls* *mutters* I've got enough problems without an exponential dating pool opening up under my feet.

Got any suggestions for the speech, Mr. Below the Radar?

POLITICS
Are enjoyed more as a spectator sport, than by the participants
Are only different from psychodrama in that they never end
Are a sign that people have too much time on their hands

I don't know if I'll get that much control. I do know there's a Death character if you let a character expire.

Oh, and yeah, the Sims can cook. I had a bit of a glitch where they ran out of money and kept missing the car to work, but I ~~found the money cheat~~ fixed it.

Do you have the Sim City 3000 package? Because I love when the city is destroyed by a meteor.

No, but I got the magic pack... I just need time to install it.
