Library [02/04]

It had been difficult for Sam to get out of bed this morning, with Peter still warm beside him, but he'd managed to do it once he realized that he wasn't feeling compelled to tell the truth anymore. With the potential for awkwardness gone (well, at least for that kind of awkwardness), Sam went ahead and headed to the library. Maybe people would want a quiet place to hide from anyone they'd said stupid things to yesterday.

With everything from lunch put away, Sam worked on decluttering the main desk, muttering to himself occasionally about how the mess could have accumulated.

Peter came in at the usual time. "Hey."

"Hey. Long time, no see," Sam joked.

"Way too long," Peter said, not joking at all. He leaned across the counter to get a kiss.

Sam had no problem kissing Peter back, quite strongly in fact. "I'm glad you came by," he said when they broke apart.

"Had to bring you your caffiene and donuts fix," Peter replied, putting said items down on the counter.

"Best boyfriend ever," Sam commented, in case Peter wasn't already aware of that fact.

"Thought that was you," Peter teased.

"Maybe we're tied," Sam said, digging into a donut.

"I suppose I can live with that," Peter said. He sipped his coffee. "How's your day going?"

"A lot quieter than yesterday, which is definitely something I can live with," Sam said. "I might have to strangle Dean into thinking sensibly, but that's actually not a completely new thing."

"What'd he do now?" Peter asked.

"We got to talking yesterday, and he got into all of this 'It's my job to save you all the time because you mean more than I do' stuff," Sam said. "It's wrong and it's upsetting, and I don't know what to do."

"Just be there for him," Peter said. "Sometimes it's all you can do."

"Is strangling him while I'm there for him still an option? Because it's very tempting," Sam said.

"You'd have to be in the same room to strangle him," Peter said, deadpan. "So... yeah."

"I just want to make him see things sensibly. Especially when I might not always be able to be there for him," Sam said.

"Super gluing yourself to him didn't work?" Peter said, gently teasing.

"Don't make me fling a piece of donut at you," Sam said. "I'm pretty sure the super glue would only make the problem worse."

"Be funny though," Peter pointed out.

"Until Dean tried to kill me to get loose."

"I'd protect you," Peter said, deadpan. "After I put down the camera."

"Oh, it's good to know you'd be recorded my attempted demise," Sam said.

"Only the part until he tried to kill you," Peter said. "Because up until then it'd be funny."

"Aah, I see. And then you'd defend me?" Sam asked, liking the sound of that.
