It had been difficult for Sam to get out of bed this morning, with Peter still warm beside him, but he'd managed to do it once he realized that he wasn't feeling compelled to tell the truth anymore. With the potential for awkwardness gone (well, at least for that kind of awkwardness), Sam went ahead and headed to the library. Maybe people would want a quiet place to hide from anyone they'd said stupid things to yesterday.

"We got to talking yesterday, and he got into all of this 'It's my job to save you all the time because you mean more than I do' stuff," Sam said. "It's wrong and it's upsetting, and I don't know what to do."

"Just be there for him," Peter said. "Sometimes it's all you can do."

"Is strangling him while I'm there for him still an option? Because it's very tempting," Sam said.

"You'd have to be in the same room to strangle him," Peter said, deadpan. "So... yeah."

"I just want to make him see things sensibly. Especially when I might not always be able to be there for him," Sam said.

"Super gluing yourself to him didn't work?" Peter said, gently teasing.

"Don't make me fling a piece of donut at you," Sam said. "I'm pretty sure the super glue would only make the problem worse."

"Be funny though," Peter pointed out.

"Until Dean tried to kill me to get loose."

"I'd protect you," Peter said, deadpan. "After I put down the camera."

"Oh, it's good to know you'd be recorded my attempted demise," Sam said.

"Only the part until he tried to kill you," Peter said. "Because up until then it'd be funny."

"Aah, I see. And then you'd defend me?" Sam asked, liking the sound of that.

"Absolutely," Peter said. "And I'd heal any damage."

"It always feels nice when you do that. Like you're taking extra special care of me," Sam admitted.

"I'm your healer," Peter reminded him.

"You are. I don't trust anyone else to heal me up the way you do."

"Lucky for you I don't mind getting my hands on you if I have to," Peter said.

"I don't exactly mind having your hands on me either," Sam pointed out.

"It worked out pretty well last night," Peter said.

Sam grinned. "Yes, it did. I meant it when I said you can spend the night whenever you want. There's no reason we can't both benefit from my lack of a roommate."

"Doing anything tonight?" Peter asked.

"I don't have any plans yet..."

"I could get dinner," Peter suggested. "Come by. Stay a long while."

Sam looked utterly elated at that thought. "A really long while?" he asked.
