Library [01/28]

Sam was very glad to have power for his library shift this week, as much as he'd enjoyed finding...alternative ways to stay warm. He'd gotten up early enough to manage a stop for coffee on his way in, and was already halfway done with the cup by the time he got the doors open.

"That's an improvement," Sam said proudly. "Do you think Anakin will be happy?"

"Well, as happy as he ever gets," Sam said. "I just hope he understands how hard you're trying."

"Oh yeah," Peter said. "I didn't try to hit him with TK this time. That's improvement."

Sam snickered. "I'm sure he appreciated that. Is that something I should be helping you practice too?"

"I'm a big object," Sam said. "How much damage could you really do?"

"You've got to practice somehow, don't you?" Sam asked. "I trust you."

"Something less painful for you," Peter said. "I don't even like the potential."

"I'll tell Dean," Peter replied, smugly.

"Hey, this has nothing to do with Dean," Sam said, giving Peter a bit of a glare. "This is about helping you."

"Which I do want you to do," Peter assured him. "Just not on stuff that might make you get hurt. You could still watch me to see if I turn invisible though."

Sam sighed softly, but nodded. "Of course. I'll do that for as long as it takes."

"It's not you," Peter said. He tried to catch Sam's eyes. "I don't trust myself."

"But I trust you," Sam said, trying to let Peter see how serious he was about that. "Doesn't that count for something?"

A smile touched Peter's lips. "It means everything."

Sam couldn't help but smile back. "I just want to help. I want you to be able to control this stuff just as much as you do."

"I know." Peter took a sip of his coffee. "You know how it is. Sometimes you freak about your powers, sometimes I freak about mine. Now it's me."

"I've met our families," Peter said. "I don't think it's possible."

"I meant power-wise," Sam said, smirking. "We'll always have our families driving us crazy."
