Movie Appreciation: Week 2, Period 3 (Fri. 1/16)

Like the previous week, students met up in a nice Danger Shop-created movie theater, complete with large professor. Of course, this week, his clothing was a little odder than usual. It seemed his shirt had disappeared between classes and he was choosing to ignore this fact, having found a very small leather vest in his office that he thought worked okay with the jeans his wardrobe had diminished to.

As soon as it seemed the majority of students had found seats, the theater darkened and the trailer for Fatal Rock played on the screen, followed by a few key clips featuring explosions and lots of foul language.

When the clips ended, the lights came back and there was Ronon grinning at the podium. "Looks like a pretty cool movie, huh? Today I want you guys to talk about action movies like Fatal Rock, Mission Impossible 3, and Terminator 2. Ask somebody in class or out of class what makes 'em interested in action movies and what would make 'em wanna watch more based on the clips, trailer, or title. If you've got questions, I'm around and Tony's your TA." As he stepped to the side of the stage, half the lights dimmed and the other trailers played for the sake of those who'd never seen movies.

[ooc: links are to YouTube trailers and scenes from Die Hard. Consider this your warning for foul language and violence in the links!]

While Angela wouldn't have called herself a big action movie fan, she'd seen enough to know she did enjoy them, as she enjoyed most movies, so long as the 'ick' factor was kept fairly low.

She was checking out what people were wearing today while she looked for a partner to discuss with.

Dinah was slumped down in her hooded sweatshirt, and wishing she could have just stayed in bed. "Sooooo. Explosions? Or the car accidents?" Or hey, fashion disasters.

"Hot men with guns?" Angela added to that list. Always a pro to any movie.

Dinah brightened. "Losing their shirts as the action keeps going," she agreed, sitting up a little, and shooting Angela's outfit a slightly-envious glance. "Like, ohh, the soldier-guy from the future after he gets hurt a little. Poor guy."

"Just like that," Angela said with an affirming nod and a grin at the other girl. "The explosions are nice too," she added. "But not necessarily my primary reason for watching these things."

"I watch for the fight scenes, too," Dinah admitted. "Although some of them are just ridiculous. But hey, more shirtless-and-wounded." She grinned. "I'm Dinah."

Firekeeper looked around for someone who'd be willing to discuss these movies with someone who'd never seen them before.

"Yo," Ichigo greeted as he took the seat beside Firekeeper. He looked down at her clothes for a moment, surprised as he himself was down to a pair of jeans that were a little too short and the shirt from his homecoming suit.

"Did you find the one working laundry machine?" he asked curiously.

Firekeeper snorted and shook her head. "I not use these machines. The stream clean well enough."

Sokka bounced in his seat and looked for a partner.

"Things go boom!" Marco said eloquently as he sat down next to Sokka.

Sokka grinned and gave him two thumbs up. "Me likey," he added.

Marco nodded. "Plot, what plot? Big boom good."

"Hey, plot's important, too," Sokka countered. "But lasers and kung fu are MORE important."

Peyton looked around for someone to discuss with, still moving and sitting carefully so as not to inadvertantly flash anyone.

"So," Robin asked. "Do you like action movies?"

Re: Discussion [Movie 1/16]

[identity profile] darkangelsawyer.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Peyton shrugged. "Sometimes, yeah. They're a lot of fun."

"I like a lot of the action sequences." Robin said. "But not so much the fighting."

"As long as it doesn't get too gory,I don't mind," Peyton said.

Eve had finally gotten used to the fact that top-wise, she just had a bra on. Now she was looking around and trying to find a partner.

"So," Brooke greeted her, not quite wanting to ask about her clothing choices when she realized it probably wasn't her fault, so she'd just keep her eyes at face level. "Thoughts on action movies. Let's hear them."

"Myself, I happen to think they're more entertaining than chick flicks most of the time," Eve said, trying to sit in one position in the hopes her clothes might come back if she refused to move anymore.
gobrookeyourself: (just brooke)

"Depends on what kind of mood I'm in, personally," she agreed. "I mean, sometimes you need the weepy thing, but then you have those days when it's just really good to see hot guys blow a lot of things up."

Re: Discussion [Movie 1/16]

[identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com 2009-01-17 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly!" Eve said with a nod. "Because when I'm in a bad mood, weepy movies are just about the last thing I need for myself. Now if I'm trying to cheer someone up and get them to get their cry on so they start feeling better, chick flicks all the way."
