Movie Appreciation: Week 2, Period 3 (Fri. 1/16)

Like the previous week, students met up in a nice Danger Shop-created movie theater, complete with large professor. Of course, this week, his clothing was a little odder than usual. It seemed his shirt had disappeared between classes and he was choosing to ignore this fact, having found a very small leather vest in his office that he thought worked okay with the jeans his wardrobe had diminished to.

As soon as it seemed the majority of students had found seats, the theater darkened and the trailer for Fatal Rock played on the screen, followed by a few key clips featuring explosions and lots of foul language.

When the clips ended, the lights came back and there was Ronon grinning at the podium. "Looks like a pretty cool movie, huh? Today I want you guys to talk about action movies like Fatal Rock, Mission Impossible 3, and Terminator 2. Ask somebody in class or out of class what makes 'em interested in action movies and what would make 'em wanna watch more based on the clips, trailer, or title. If you've got questions, I'm around and Tony's your TA." As he stepped to the side of the stage, half the lights dimmed and the other trailers played for the sake of those who'd never seen movies.

"Hot men with guns?" Angela added to that list. Always a pro to any movie.

Dinah brightened. "Losing their shirts as the action keeps going," she agreed, sitting up a little, and shooting Angela's outfit a slightly-envious glance. "Like, ohh, the soldier-guy from the future after he gets hurt a little. Poor guy."

"Just like that," Angela said with an affirming nod and a grin at the other girl. "The explosions are nice too," she added. "But not necessarily my primary reason for watching these things."

"I watch for the fight scenes, too," Dinah admitted. "Although some of them are just ridiculous. But hey, more shirtless-and-wounded." She grinned. "I'm Dinah."

"Angela," she shared in return.

"Don't you just want to take them home and look after them?" she asked, her smile possibly giving away her thoughts on the situation. Maybe that was just her.

No, really not just her. "Yes! Like that scene, in, oh, the first Illinois Smith, where the heroine's taking care of him after the fight? And cataloging all his wounds?" Dinah sighed. "Really hot for an older guy."

"Oh, definitely," Angela said with feeling. This was possibly not the way Ronon had envisaged a discussion about action movies going. Did she care? Not really.

"Unfortunately, they don't always actually admit they're hurt that easily." As she'd found out with Hannibal this week. Boys and their weird need to deny pain and always seem manly.

Dinah snorted, more than familiar with that. "Yeah. My sister's boyfriend is a cop. Does he admit to wanting anything more than a band-aid when he gets in a fight? Ha." She grinned. "I got to watch Helena patch him up once, though."

Angela smirked. "My roommate got in a fight at the weekend," she said. "Took about ten minutes for me to even persuade him to take his head out from under his pillow."

"Oh no! Was he okay?" Dinah snickered a little. "And who's your roommate?"

"Hannibal, and he was fine in a bruised and achy sort of way," Angela said with a little nod.

"I think I heard a little about this on the Radio." Dinah had a pretty hard time keeping track of all the people she still didn't know yet. "A fight at the salle? Boys." Right, like she didn't enjoy a good spar. But she was way smarter about it. "Although, now I'm thinking of way too many guys here who should fight each other and end up wounded and shirtless."

She might have snuck a look at Mr. Dex at this point.

Angela snickered, following Dinah's gaze. "I'll take shirtless even without the wounded." Hot as it was, she actually preferred her roommate uninjured.

"There are ways in which I am loving this laundry strike," she admitted after a moment.

Dinah chortled before she could stop herself, looking at a couple other guys in the room. "Uh-hunh. Oh, god. Do you know Prince Edward?"

"Oh! Yes, he's my little sib," Angela told her. "Why?"

"He didn't have many clothes to start with, even before this, and then the washer ate his only outfit, sooo..." Dinah facepalmed and snickered. "I bought him a shirt and jeans, and as goofy as he is? He looks really good without them."

Angela grinned, taking a moment to visualise. C'mon it's Angela, and fake sibling or not she can't help it.

"I bet," she decided after a moment. "It was nice of you to do that for him."

"I feel sorry for him. This place is so not what he's used to, and he's so sweet. But, um..." Dinah tried to figure out a nice way to say 'the elevator doesn't go all the way up to the top, does it?' "Do you know anything about his fiancee?"

"I roomed with a girl with the same unusual name over the summer." Angela shrugged, "But I haven't seen her in months."

"He's a little... quirky," she said after a moment. Or a lot quirky, but she, like Dinah was trying to make it sound nice.

"Quirky," Dinah immediately agreed. "But he has a great singing voice. And hunh. I hope his Giselle isn't hurt or lost somewhere." That would make him pout like a sad, abandoned puppy, and she really didn't want to see that. Awww.

Angela nodded, she hadn't really known the girl, but she seemed sweet enough.

"I still just find the whole idea of marriage at our age a little scary, though." Or a lot scary.

"Extremely. I mean, it might be nice to be in love with someone, but. Married? Forever and ever married? Maybe having kids? God no."

"Oh yeah." Angela nodded her enthusiastic agreement. "I mean, I wouldn't say no to a boyfriend, but anything more than that is for way waaay in the future."

"Very much so." Dinah sighed a little wistfully. "Jet Li's married anyway, I think."

Angela laughed. "Aw, shaaame," she said. "But there's got to be someone cute and unmarried for you somewhere around here."
