Child Development- 1st Period- Class #1
"Hey, guys!" Lily greeted everyone. "I see a couple familiar faces here, good to see you again. For those that don't know me, I'm Ms. Aldrin, and I've been teaching here since the summer. Some of you know that my background is as a kindergarten teacher, and now I teach you all. So, I have a little experience with kids of most ages by now. Now, some of you might be here because you like kids, or want to go into teaching, or because you've had to babysit tiny versions of your teachers or something and want to know what you're doing the next time. Or you just ended up in the wrong class, in which case I'll try to make it not suck too hard.
"What we're doing here is learning about kids and how they grow up," she went on. "We're going to cover the physical, emotional and social development in the major age groups, and focusing a little more on the really early stages because that's when so much development takes place. We're also going to go delve a little into psychology and sociology, and there'll be a bunch of little things you can do to up your grade.
"Starting now. This week, you can all sign up for the chance to wear your own empathy belly!" This was said way too excitedly as she walked to the other side of her desk and picked up the... device to show it off. "It's completely optional, but for credit, you can sign up to wear one of these for a day. It simulates some of the effects of pregnancy, including the thirty pound weight gain. Girls and guys can both do this, and two or three people can sign up on a day to do it at the same time. Pick it uphandwavily the day of, return it handwavily at the end, and report back on it next week.
"For now though," Lily said, "you can stand up, give us your name and something interesting about yourself, and tell us all why you're taking this class. I'll pass up the empathy belly sign-up sheet while you're doing introductions."

Re: Introduce yourself!
It confused him for a second, rubbing the back of his head, but it would have been rude to not respond, especially since she was new, and so he lifted his hand in what was kind of a wave.
Re: Introduce yourself!
Claudia waved back.

Re: Introduce yourself!
Re: Introduce yourself!
Durrrrrp.
Of course, it was followed up with, "And Mexico."
Re: Introduce yourself!
"Are they close together?"
Re: Introduce yourself!
And, to demonstrate this, he stretched out his hands. It definitely was a great distance, all things considered.
He dropped them back to his side. "I went back and forth a lot."
Re: Introduce yourself!
Re: Introduce yourself!
There was a pause, a slight frown of confusion.
"We didn't have a flying car."
Re: Introduce yourself!
No you don't, Claudia.
Re: Introduce yourself!
That was quite a lot in common in Chad's book, too. Enough for a thumbs-up, at any rate.
"Cool," he said, and then tried to think back through all the introductions he just sat through to remember her name, "Claudia, right?"
Re: Introduce yourself!
"And you're Chad!"
Re: Introduce yourself!
Excepting that Chad wasn't his real name at all.
He nodded, grunting in agreement. "Yup."
Re: Introduce yourself!
Not fickle at alllll, this girl.
"And you like kids?" Another thing in common!
Re: Introduce yourself!
Re: Introduce yourself!
They were sooo meant.to.be.OMG.
Re: Introduce yourself!
Instead, he just said, "Yeah? So this class should be easy, huh?"
Re: Introduce yourself!
Re: Introduce yourself!
"I'm sure you'll do great," Chad grunted encouragingly.
Re: Introduce yourself!
Claudia grinned at him. "Thanks!"
