Library [10/09]

Sam had more coffee with him than was possibly necessary as he went to open the library. He was thinking about Homecoming, and how his excitement about possibly getting to go with Peter was balanced out by worrying about who might come back to visit. It was definitely going to be a day of reading to distract himself from thinking about that more.

"Let me know if you need help drying off," Peter told him.

Sam's cheeks got a little flushed as he thought about that. "I might need your help, yeah," he said.

"Guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do," Peter said, philosophically.

"Maybe I won't hope for people with bad aim then," Sam said, laughing.

"I'm just saying the weather's getting cooler," Peter pointed out.

"Oh, I didn't think about that," Sam said. "I might need some warming up if I get dunked a lot."

"You're so lucky I'm here," Peter said. "Otherwise you'd never think of these things."

"I know. I'd spend the whole day cold and wet and miserable," Sam replied.

"Then you'd die of pneumonia before I could take you to the dance," Peter pointed out.

That got a bit of a different smile out of Sam. "That would suck. Especially if you really want to go."

"Do I get to go with you?" Peter asked.

"I wouldn't want to go with anyone else," Sam replied.

Peter grinned like a doof. "Then it's a date."

Peter wasn't the only one with a dorky grin. "It's a date. A good date," he said.

"I'd say a great date but I feel like that'd jinx it," Peter said.

"Yeah, we should wait and see how tomorrow turns out," Sam said. "I'm willing to stick with good though, just because it'll be with you." It was possible he was turning into a giant dork.

"I think I can agree to those terms," Peter said.

Sam grinned. "By the way, did I tell you what a good job you did at dinner?" he asked. "You really did come off as the perfect boyfriend. Not to mention keeping me from killing Dean or Alec."

"You really think I did a good job?" Peter asked. "Not that Dean and Alec didn't make it easy, but still."

"Even if they hadn't been there, you would have been amazing," Sam said.

"I bet you say that to all your boyfriends," Peter teased.

"I don't know, you're the only one I've had so far," Sam said. "If you keep this up, you're going to ruin me for other guys."

"I don't think you're going to get other guys," Peter told him. He reached over the counter to take hold of Sam's shirt. "I have a problem with that."

"Oh really?" Sam asked, managing to keep a straight face as he looked down at Peter's hand. "And why's that?"

"It implies I'm letting you go," Peter said. "Not gonna happen."
