Library [9.42]

Boys and been girls and girls had been boys and Anemone had stayed Anemone.

Which was fine by her. The only male Human-Form she'd ever heard of was Gonzy, and, well, EW.

She settled in behind the desk with her copy of Grimm's Tales or the meta to find more stories about people transforming into new and different shapes. Just because she could.

"That's, um, oh," Rodney was a little lost regarding this line of conversation. "Here," he pushed the book back towards Kevin. "Let's look at Newton," Rodney tapped the page.

Kevin did as requested. "He's not hot," he responded. "Though the lighting in the picture is bad, and it's in black and white, which just makes him more pasty." He shrugged and pushed the book back towards Rodney.

"You've got nice arms," he noticed. "Do you work out?"

"Yeah and the hair (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/GodfreyKneller-IsaacNewton-1689.jpg) wasn't helping him either," Rodney agreed. "But that really has no bearing on the amazing contributions he made towards the advancement of science," he argued.

"Um, thanks?" Rodney wasn't sure if that was the appropriate response. "Actually, I don't. I really try to avoid the gym as much as possible when Dex isn't on my case."

"Dex, huh?" Kevin chuckled. "Sugar daddy?"

"What?! No!" Rodney exclaimed, forgetting he was in the Library. "He's that caveman of a P.E. teacher who seems to get a kick out of singling me out for no reason whatsoever," he complained.

Kevin had seen enough pornos to know that probably wasn't the case. "Dude, sounds to me like your gym teacher wants you," he said with authority. "Probably can't get enough of seeing you squirm around in your gym shorts."

Rodney stared at Kevin incredulously. His mouth was hanging open.

"See! It makes sense now that you think about it, right?" He leaned back, crossed his arms, and nodded. "Is he hot? Or is he like one of those overly-macho, hairy dudes with a porn stache and bad cologne?" Because there were only two categories, obviously.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"That makes no sense! None!" Rodney righteously denied. "He is rather hairy, though. Dreadlocks. But that's irrelevant," he quickly continued. "He's more than likely jealous of my intellect."

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dude, you're like, um..." What was the phrase? "Protesting, like, way too much. A stud with dreadlocks isn't going to give a flip about your intellect."

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're imagining things," he stated. "What, you think a 'stud with dreadlocks' is going to 'give a flip' about some high schooler?" This was said with air quotes. "That's both ridiculous and morally questionable."

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Kevin leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table. "Would you do him?" he asked.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, but I'm starting to think you would." This was not a positive thing.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Kevin thought about, then shook his head. "Nah, I'm in a relationship," he replied. He decided not to push the issue any further, knowing how hard denial could be.

"So, are we done yet?" he asked, glancing back down at the book.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"We haven't done anything, yet," he explained slowly.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Kevin was confused; he'd looked at the book.

"Well, what's left?"

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Rodney let his head fall into his arms on the table. "Do you really want to learn anything, or did you just think it would be fun to waste my time?" His voice came out slightly muffled.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Was this dude about to cry? "Hey, man, I'm, um, I'm sorry," he said. "I'll do better." Maybe he should take off his shirt.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Rodney lifted his head and tried to judge Kevin's sincerity. "Let's just try to cover something," he pleaded.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
So that would be a 'no' to taking off the shirt. "Show me what I need to learn," he said, sitting up straighter.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay, good," Rodney nodded. He quickly launched into a brief explanation of gravity before Kevin could back out. He also jotted down a formula or two and pushed the paper across the table. "You see?"

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Kevin tried to follow everything Rodney was saying, but the more he said, the louder the buzzing in his ears became. He picked up the piece of paper and looked at the formulas. His hand was shaking.

"I, um, ah..." He put it down. "Can you go over that again? Maybe a little slower this time?"

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Um, sure. It's really not that bad," he tried to reassure. "Basically, all matter is attracted to other matter based on their relative masses." Rodney hoped that was simple enough. "Okay?"

Re: Morning

[identity profile] my-tragic-past.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm a little fuzzy on some of that," he replied. "What is matter again?" He rubbed his temples.

Re: Morning

[identity profile] mrodneymckay.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently that wasn't simple enough. "Matter is any physical substance that occupies space," he explained. "And mass is the quantity of matter an object contains," he added, anticipating the next question.
