Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #3

Once everyone was seated, Edward addressed the class. "I know that some questions you have may be difficult to ask in person. For that reason, we now have a question box." He gestured at a wooden suggestion box sitting on a side table. "If you have a question, drop it in there and I will address it during the next class. And no, you do not have to sign your name. Also, Chuck, I'd like to talk to you after class."

"Today we are discussing Gender, Identity and Sexuality," Edward said. "We will be spending the majority of this semester learning about healthy behavior, but it is important we discuss abnormalities so you can recognize them when you see them." He discussed sex chromosomal abnormalities and then launched into a lecture about homosexuality, including what causes it and ways it can be cured. He also explained how dangerous homosexuality can be, and how friends and loved ones must be encouraged to choose heterosexuality for their own safety.

"For today's discussion, let's talk about choice. Write down at least three things that you choose to be and at least three things that you are and cannot be changed. Then share these with your group. Do you agree with everyone's list?"

"For example, Kevin has blond hair. Would you say that Kevin is blond or that he chooses to be blond?"

Cal took a moment to consider his unfinished list and jotted down judgmental under the things he doesn't choose to be. Greek, skinny, judgmental. Not a bad collection, one he could work with well enough, as if he really planned on working with this lame assignment anyway.

"Good that we're clear on that, then," he muttered.

"Are you honestly that upset over this?" Temari asked, crossing her arms over her chest.

"If I'm upset about anything," Cal said, "it's this stupid assignment." This stupid class, his stupid mutation. "I couldn't care less about the Amber thing, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let you forget about it, Fanbutt."

Temari just hummed thoughtfully, giving him a carefully once over.

"Of course."

Try as he might to just act like he didn't notice the once-over, Cal sucked in a slightly annoyed breath and looked up at Temari, expectantly. If she had something to say, she should just say it, because it's not like she'd let that stop her before, and if she didn't have anything to say, then she shouldn't be looking him over like that.

Temari just looked down at her very sparse notes on the lecture, adding something to it instead of acknowledging him.

Cal just rolled his eyes and returned to trying to think of safe things to list that he chose to be. He really didn't get what the hell was Fanbutt's problem, but if she was going to be like this about it, he wasn't going to worry about it.

Or, at least, he was going to pretend like he wasn't worrying about it. That it didn't matter.
