Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #3

Once everyone was seated, Edward addressed the class. "I know that some questions you have may be difficult to ask in person. For that reason, we now have a question box." He gestured at a wooden suggestion box sitting on a side table. "If you have a question, drop it in there and I will address it during the next class. And no, you do not have to sign your name. Also, Chuck, I'd like to talk to you after class."

"Today we are discussing Gender, Identity and Sexuality," Edward said. "We will be spending the majority of this semester learning about healthy behavior, but it is important we discuss abnormalities so you can recognize them when you see them." He discussed sex chromosomal abnormalities and then launched into a lecture about homosexuality, including what causes it and ways it can be cured. He also explained how dangerous homosexuality can be, and how friends and loved ones must be encouraged to choose heterosexuality for their own safety.

"For today's discussion, let's talk about choice. Write down at least three things that you choose to be and at least three things that you are and cannot be changed. Then share these with your group. Do you agree with everyone's list?"

"For example, Kevin has blond hair. Would you say that Kevin is blond or that he chooses to be blond?"

Tosh looked around at the group. "I am still unsure as to how I ended up in this class."

"My mother picked my classes," Joan said. "Of course, I think if she knew how closed-minded the teacher was, she might not have."

"I think I'm in here due to a technical error," Tosh replied. "I'm Tosh, by the way. I don't believe we've met."

"I'm Joan," she replied. "And I wish I could blame a technical error."

Tosh glanced at her sympathetically. "At least neither of us are willingly taking a class taught by someone so closed-minded."

"Well, it's not like we knew he was closed minded before taking the class," Joan pointed out.

"True enough," Tosh said. "Shall we get on with the assignment then?"
