Sam was glad to be back in the library, even if he was going to have to get used to being there on Thursdays. Wanting to make a good impression on the new librarian, he got to the library early to get everything set up long before he opened the doors to everyone else.

Peter came in at the usual time with donuts and coffee. "Hey."

"Hey," Sam said, smiling and marking his page in his book. "You remembered."

"It's a little freaky," Peter admitted. He put the coffee and donuts down on the counter. "It's throwing my whole week off."

"You'll just have to learn to adapt with me," Sam said, taking his coffee.

"I prefer blaming you and taking shameless advantage of this for favors instead," Peter replied. He grinned in that way annoying little brothers could do.

"Oh, I see how it is," Sam said, laughing. "What kind of favors?"

"I'll let you know," Peter said, trying to look mysterious. He sipped his coffee. "So how's it going?"

Sam resisted the urge to roll his eyes at Peter's mysterious look, and shrugged. "I'm okay. I like my classes so far."

"They're appropriately geeky enough for you?" Peter asked.

"They're not all geeky. I'm taking cooking," Sam said defensively.

"What'd you make me?" Peter replied.

"We just did introductions yesterday," Sam said. "When we actually start cooking, I'll be sure to make enough to share with you if you're feeling brave."

"What day do you have it?" Peter asked. "So I know when to nag you."

"It's on Wednesdays," Sam said. "So I guess you can nag me here."

"Duly noted for next week," Peter said. "How's everything else?"

"Okay, I guess," Sam said nonchalantly, not wanting to bore Peter with more than that.

"You realize your time limit is up for wallowing? I just wanted to make you aware of that," Peter said.

"Is that something you decided, or do I get any say in the matter?" Sam asked.

"No, because if you had a say you'd wallow until the day you died about - what's the word? Oh yeah, everything." Peter tore a bite of donut off and popped it into his mouth. "That's why it's my job to pull you out of it."

"There's a difference between thinking about things and wallowing," Sam pointed out. "I don't...not about everything."

"You do," Peter said. "I'm not saying it's never allowed or in this case inappropriate, just that there's stages. We've gotta move you out of the all wallowing all the time stage. Now we're on some wallowing and maybe some talking and thinking."

"I've been thinking," Sam said, like that counted the way Peter wanted it too. "Thinking is a big part of wallowing, while you're waiting to see if vampires are going to come and kill you."

Peter frowned. "When did vampires come into this?"

"I figured if Dawn told everyone what I did, I might get some angry vampires after me," Sam said. "But it's been long enough that I think I'm okay."

"You realize that part of the BFF code is protection from angry vampires, right?" Peter asked.
