Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Portalocity Port, Saturday Morning

Tony's first airplane ride wasn't as interesting than he'd hoped. It was rather like riding the bus, only with less space and more pretzels. Although "boring" was probably the way to go when it came to air travel.

He'd spent a bad half hour in Customs after his flight had landed. They'd pulled him from line and fingerprinted him and for a bit he was afraid he'd be barred from entering the US. But they apparently realized he was neither a drug dealer nor a terrorist and let him through.

He retrieved his oversized duffle from the baggage claim and followed the instructions on the crumpled printout of an email from the school. He took a quick detour to buy a horribly overpriced breakfast sandwich with his shiny new American money. (Dollar bills? What was wrong with coins?) He made a wrong turn on the way back, but he managed to orient himself and find his way to the Portalocity terminal.

A piece of paper tacked on the wall in one corner of the room said "Fandom High." Looked like he was in the right place. He sat down on a bench under the sign, duffle near his feet, and clutched his laptop case as if it might walk away. (It wouldn't, would it? Arra would've warned him if that was a possibility.) It seemed he was the first to arrive. Not surprising, since he'd taken the red eye out of Vancouver. Late-night flights made it easier to say goodbyes to vampire ex-boyfriends.

It had taken a lot of convincing for Joan to get her parents to agree to drop her and her stuff off at the airport to meet the shuttle to her school instead of driving her to the school themselves.

The last thing she wanted to deal with was the tearful goodbye from her mother and the last minute snarking from Kevin in front of her new potential friends.

Which was why she was currently dragging a trunk behind her (it was on wheels, thankfully), and shouldering two large duffle bags.

She spotted the Fandom High sign and slumped into a seat, dropping her things with relief.

"Would you like a hand with all that?" Myn asked, eyeing Joan's luggage with trepidation. How could anyone bring that much stuff?

Ben, a large duffel slung over his shoulder, made his way towards a group of people roughly his age. The sign didn't help much: the only English he'd been exposed to had been on the shuttle ride here and it had cut into his sulking time report to Jacen.

"Fandom High?" he asked in a distinct British Coruscanti accent.

The flight from LAX hadn't been as bad as Jess expected. All his stuff fit into one bag, and the guy next to him had been happier to sleep than bore Jess with pointless small talk. He didn't think he'd be so lucky on the shuttle though, and he was trying to prepare for dealing with people who were a lot happier to be here than he was.

Ben gave the new arrival a small smile as he yanked a bit on his braid and glanced around impatiently.

Molly clomped her way over, dragging her duffel bag behind her and loaded down with a huge backpack, trying not to wish she had a member of her family with her for support.

There'd been a lot of tears and hugging at the airport, plus promises to write. She wasn't sure baby Harry had understood at all.

"Hey," she greeted people, once she was near the sign.

It had been a really long trip, and Buffy was tired, and surprisingly sore from sitting on planes all day, and also, she had way too much luggage. Which meant that the first sign that she was done like a done thing for today was the way she unceremoniously dropped her carryon on the ground. The second thing would be her little "Tah and dah."

It had been a long trip, made even longer by inter-world timezone changes. Myn hitched his duffel higher on his shoulder, carrying his rifle case in the other hand. How he'd managed to get that through customs was anyone's guess.

The inglorious 'Fandom High' sign managed to catch his jet-lagged attention, so he made his way over to where the others were presumably waiting.

Lola had actually gotten to the States the night before, but stayed in a hotel near the airport in New York before catching a commuter flight down.

She couldn't decide if that extra night had prepared her more for being in America, or if it just made her more nervous about being there for the next year or so. She hadn't done much more than crash out at the hotel, and hadn't spoken to anyone on the flight down.

She looked around at the group gathered near the "Fandom High" sign and tried to decide whether or not she wanted to introduce herself now, or just be anti-social until they got to the actual school.

Eric approached the gathering group of people, a little hesitant; he had one suitcase and a duffle with him, the rest of his belongings being shipped along separately.

"Uh, hey," he said, a little softly, maybe too soft to be heard. "This the group for Fandom High?"

The redhead was juggling a large suitcase, a backpack, and a messenger bag. She glanced around at the other students with open curiosity on her face.

Tahiri actually had no idea what had happened to the ejector seat by the time she emerged from the other side of the portal, and how she'd managed to hold onto the flimsiplast with her orders on it was anyone's guess.

A quick check told her that her bag was intact and her lightsaber still secured to her equipment harness, so she rid herself of the constricting boots and headed, barefoot, over to the bench with the sign above it.

He was noticing the little things that didn't quite gel with, well, 1994.

A very tall man with a flowing black robe stalked towards the group. "If you're heading to Fandom, come with me," he said, not making eye contact. "If you leave anything behind, it's left. Bad enough I have to drive a bus. I'm not doing u-turns because someone forgot a teddy bear or their clothing."

He waited exactly two seconds before tapping a boot on the ground. "Well?"

Anakin drove the bus like it was a much smaller vehicle--perhaps a fighter of some kind--squeezing through spaces on the highway that shouldn't have fit a scooter.

He also seemed to think that hitting the brakes was admitting defeat.

Hope no one gets carsick...
