While Sam was very, very glad to be away from the volcano, he couldn't help but wish that the island had taken them somewhere a little cooler. He didn't mind being inside on days like this.

"No, it's not," Peter agreed. He headed back over to the counter. "So I see you survived the weekend."

"Yeah, although I think the island getting away from the volcano helped," Sam said. "I just hope everything's okay back there."

"Me too." Peter helped himself to a donut. "At least everybody evacuated, as far as I could tell."

"That's good," Sam said. He took a donut and was about to start on the coffee when something clicked, and he looked at Peter. "How do you know?"

"You looked from here, where it was nice and safe?" Sam asked.

"No," Peter said. "I looked over there where I'd actually be able to see people."

"You went onto the island? During the active volcano period," Sam said, all awkwardness gone as he stared at Peter. "Are you out of your mind?"

"What if somebody needed help getting out?" Peter replied. "I'm not supposed to lend a hand?"

"No, you're supposed to stay here and let the people who live on the island with the volcano take care of themselves since they know what to do."

"Super powers," Peter reminded him. "I could've handled it."

"Volcano," Sam replied. "When's the last time you tested your powers against one of those?"

"Flight and healing," Peter said. "I could've handled it."

"You don't know that," Sam said, sounding a little frantic. "You can't do stuff like that."

"I've got a better chance of doing it than some regular person who might get caught there," Peter said.

"But the regular people know how to deal with the volcano," Sam said. "Did you have anyone with you?"

"Of course not," Peter said. "They could've gotten hurt."

"Oh, but it was just fine for you to go off on your own. What if something had happened to you?"

"But it didn't," Peter said. Which for him was a logical argument.

"Humor me," Sam said. "What if something had happened to you? Did you at least tell someone you were being crazy and going to the island?"

"No..." Peter admitted.

"So, if you got in over your head for some reason, no one would have known where you'd gone?" Sam said. No one meaning him, of course.

"Nothing happened," Peter said. That was his only defense and he was sticking to it.

"But it could have. That was really, really dangerous, Peter," Sam said sharply.

"I'm not going to sit at home and not help people just so I can stay safe," Peter said. "That goes against everything I am."
