Library [06/16]

While Sam was very, very glad to be away from the volcano, he couldn't help but wish that the island had taken them somewhere a little cooler. He didn't mind being inside on days like this.

Sam made sure that any books that had been checked out were back in, and then went to check his e-mail.

The library was closed to everyone except the other aides and Dean.

Sam was in the stacks, trying to organize the books in such a way that people who weren't as tall as him could reach everything more easily.

No world ending before the weekend!

Peter came in at the usual time and looked around for Sam.

When Sam heard the door open, he peered out towards the desk. "I'll be out in a second," he said, trying to get the books in his arms back on the shelves.

Peter tried to come around for a better look. "Need help?"

"No, that's okay," Sam said. "It's my job, not yours."

"Don't be a dork," Peter said. He put the coffee and donuts down and went over where Sam was. "Let me lend a hand."

"I'm not a dork," Sam said, although he didn't sound all that bothered by the term. "If you really want to help, I guess you can maybe hold these?" he suggested, motioning to the half dozen books still in his arms.

"You're totally a dork," Peter told him. He got closer to take the books out of Sam's hands. "Here. Give."

"I'm a geek, there's a difference," Sam insisted as he handed over the books. He took the top one back, and put it in its proper place on the shelf.

"I didn't know you couldn't be both," Peter replied. He leaned against the shelves as Sam worked.

"Do you want to add 'nerd' into there while we're at it?" Sam asked. He grabbed the next book, and stretched up next to Peter to put it away.

"Nah, I think dork and geek cover it." Peter watched as Sam worked. "Which isn't to say that that might not change."

"You're reserving the right to change your mind if I get more nerdy in the future?" Sam asked. "Does that mean I might be able to get rid of dork and geek someday too?"

"Sure, in theory," Peter said, grinning at him. "But if I were you I wouldn't get my hopes up."

"I can always hope," Sam said, taking the next two books to put away. "I can be non-geeky if I want to be."

"Of course you can," Peter said, his voice almost a drawl. "I look at you and I definitely see a guy who can be non-geeky when he wants to be."

Dean came in with a couple of tupperware containers. "Leftovers from dinner last night," he said, giving one to Sammy.

"Awesome," Sam said, grinning. "Not that what you usually bring isn't good, but still."

"I fight demons sometimes. I can shoot things. That's not geeky," Sam pointed out.

"True," Peter admitted. "But that's like putting black paint in a bucket of white. Doesn't make it totally black. Just mixes both together. So you're geeky with a little non-geek in you."

"You can't beat combo Father's Day/Volcano Day feasts," Dean agreed with a grin.

"I feel like there's a comparison to be made between Dad and a raging volcano, but it's not coming to me," Sam said.
