Punching People and Not Breaking Your Hand: Fighting 101 - Period 5 - [06/02]

Frowning slightly as he watched all the kids file in for class, Deadpool crossed his arms over his chest.

"So it seems we're not around France anymore. There go my plans to teach Savate and let you kick clowns..."

It was sad, really. Kicking clowns was excellent exercise. Good cardio.

"Instead, now that we seem to be vaguely South Pacific in that adorable Rogers and Hammerstein kinda way, I'll be showing you a few basic moves in Muay Thai. Because elbowing and kneeing people in the chest is so much more fun," He told them all cheerfully.

"There will be four basic moves to learn here. The elbow strike, the knee strike, hanuman and the flying knee." He squinted at them for a moment. "And no, these aren't going to be done on each other. I'd rather not get punched by the principal if I can help it. Sure, she's got that MILF thing working for her now, but it's just bad form to toss you all in a room to have a battle royale..."

Deadpool sighed dreamily.

"...Maybe someday." Shaking his head, Deadpool snapped out of it. "Partner up to help each other with form and try these on the punching bags. They usually don't hit back and now that I've said that we're doomed to being attacked by them for the beret thing."

"I can take more if you want to go faster," he told her carefully.

"Don't go wild, obviously, but I'll let you know if I'm having trouble."

Gwynn smiled. "I've never been very practiced at punching things, so I was trying to be careful. But if you will let me know, I can try more."

Her fighting usually consisted of swords and bows.

"I had some before I came here, but that was soldier's games with a child. Not too practical."

She nodded. "I am learning that hitting things with your hands is very different."

"What do you usually hit things with?" he asked curiously.

"My weapon of choice is a bow, but I was taught to sword fight as well."

"There was a swordsmanship club last year," he said. "I went, but I knew almost nothing other than what I was taught as a child. I've never even seen a bow, honestly."

"I could show you?" she offered.

He blinked.

"Oh. That would-- certainly!"

He never said no to lessons.

Gwynn's eyes lit up. "I wold very much enjoy showing you. My bow is one of my favorite things."

He pointed to the quiver on the ground near the door.

"That's mine, but it has a broom in it instead of arrows. Archery is pretty much done by the tribes in the Vinkus and nobles from Gilikin and the City who have too much time on their hands where I'm from."

"Where I'm from, I was taught Archery because my father wanted to keep me out of the close fighting." She grinned. "That didn't work so well and my Uncles started teaching me other weapons." She tilted her head and her eyes were full of curiosity. "May I ask a question?"

He nodded.

"Ask as you like."

It seemed harmless enough.

"You said there was a broom in your quiver? Is that a different kind of weapon?"

He shook his head.

"A broom. Like one would usually use to sweep the floor."

Ah.

"I can fly on it," he explained, figuring it was best to cover this all in one go. "So I keep it with me, just in case. The quiver is the best way I've found to hold onto it."

She nodded. "That sounds very practical -- especially since around here you never know when you might need it."

"I've found it very helpful for a few of my classes, and more than helpful when trouble came up," he admitted.

"I've been training some with a friend on defending myself, but for the most part, it's wisest for me to run. Unless the whatever-it-is has an allergy to citrus fruits."

IE his ability to make oddly flavored oranges is useful against a grand total of Rodney McKay.

"I usually have to run, too, as I am not very skilled in weaponless fighting." She smiled. "My best friend suggested I take this class for that."

"I'm tired of running and hiding," he said with a shrug, not really wanting to elaborate. Then he breathed out.

"And judging by previous history, it'll be a class well learned."

He tipped his chin to the bag.

"So... archery?"

He realized how that looked.

"I mean, you should probably go back to hitting the bag. And you wouldn't mind showing me archery?"

Gwynn hit the bag again. "I would enjoy showing you archery," she said with a smile.

"Good. Whenever you have the time is fine with me. I'll move things around as I need to. I don't have that much to do, other than work and class."

Gwynn smiled. "Awesome. Let me see if my roommate has made any plans for me -- as happens sometimes -- and I'll let you know a good time?"

"I'm in room 316 if you need me," And he nodded.

"I'm in #410 with my roommate, Eve."

"My roommate moved out," he said, not sounding as if he felt either way about it.

"But I'm still there. I'll make sure to check by."

Beat.

"Do you like chocolate?"
