Conflict Management [24.04]

Harriet smiled at everyone as they arrived. Once everyone was seated, she came around and leaned on the front of her desk. "The final today is simple. Answer one question, with reasons, and you're free to go. No one will fail as long as they're honest. This is our last class together, and I want to thank you all for being such good students. And Dr Wilson, for designing an excellent curriculum which I managed not to follow." She smiled again. "Enjoy your summers and do try not get into too much trouble. For those of you graduating this semester, I wish you all the best in your future."

On each desk was a test paper, on each test paper was written:

What was the most important thing you learned in this class, and why?

"That there are many different ways of managing conflict and that none is the only right way..."

Lana went on to write about the different types and where and why each might be appropriate.

Gwynn looked at the question for a good amount of time before starting to write.

I have learned that you just never know what kind of conflicts might arrive and that there are any number of ways to deal with it... also? I really enjoyed the class where we turned into animals.

Teyla thought for a moment before writing:

There are a number of different ways to manage a conflict, and no one method is more perfect than another. Each situation must be examined individually in order to decide what the best course of action is to take.

Sky quickly and easily wrote his answer.

I learned that managing conflicts isn't as simple and straightforward as one might think- and that the lessons I've learned here can be applied to so many kinds of situations in life, especially unexpected and unusual (to say the least) ones. Turning into an animal and getting chased by Sokka was something I never thought would happen in a class like this, but it did help drive home the metaphor of how I resolve things very well. I hope these lessons will prove to be useful in my work as a police officer.

Chris was there.

Lana smiled at him. "Last class we'll be in together."

"Yeah, I guess so," Chris said. "Are you excited about starting college?"

She shrugged. "Haven't really thought about it all that much. I've just been trying to get used to things back here. Wasn't even sure I was going to go for a while."

Chris frowned. "Why wouldn't you? You were so excited when you got your acceptance letter."
