Library; Wednesday [ 03/26 ]

Adah knew full well that today, she may have to be dealing with the aftermath of whatever had occurred as a result of her missing rabbit disappearing somewhere in the library. What she didn't know, however, was how, although, as she limped in and got herself settled for shift, she hoped that, whatever it was, it didn't distract her from her reading too much.

"Would you prefer we talked about something else?" Adah asked, attempting to maintain an oblique innocence as she tilted her head, chin in the prop of her palm. "I thought you liked talking about how awesome your hair is."

"But my hair's not girly," he said, needing to repeat this over and over. "No girly hair."

"I can agree to not girly," Adah allowed, ducking her head slightly as she conceded at least that point. "But you still sounded like a shampoo commercial. A very...Lee-esque, manly, no-chunks-whatsoever-taken-from-your-precious-masculinity shampoo commercial. I think I even saw a head toss, but I'm not sure. It could have just been a trick of the light."

"I did not toss my head," he said and mock glared at her. "Evil woman."

"Trick of the light, then," Adah allowed with another light nod. "And is it really evil if you like it?"

He laughed and shook his head. "Guess not. As long as you're the one tossing your hair, I'm fine with you being evil."

"My hair is better for tossing, anyway," Adah said. And was so not tossing her hair.

"Show me," he asked.

Adah wasn't even going to honor that with a verbal response, especially when the look she gave the Eel made it quite clear that she thought he was insane if he thought that she'd actually do that.

Besides, principles aside, a good hair toss would be near impossible with her spinal connectors.

"Well, you promised a good hair toss and now you're just holding back," he teased. "See if I ever toss my hair for you."

"You weren't going to toss your hair in the first place!"

"I might have!" Lee nodded. "If I'd been bribed..."

"Are you still bribeable, or did my window of opportunity pass me by?"

"It'd have to be a pretty good bribe," he replied, nodding.

"It involves kissing," Adah said, giving him a hint that really was a bit more than just a hint.

"Ooooh." Lee nodded and tapped his chin. "I'm intrigued."

Adah met the Eel's intrigue with a similarly conniving expression. "Hmmm, well," she said, "it involves a reward of a kiss, a good one, for a good hair toss and the possible cessation of any further kisses until there is a hair toss."

"You're taking this bribe really seriously," he said and frowned. "If I don't do a hair toss, I don't get kisses anymore?"

"That's right," Adah lifted her chin. "And you know how insufferably stubborn I am."

"That would be detrimental to the both of us," Lee pointed out.

There was a slight, considering narrow of Adah's eyes at that, because he certainly did have a point there. "I'm not above sacrifice," she said, finally, "for the sake of something this important."

"Me tossing my hair is more important than us being able to kiss whenever we want to?" Lee asked.

Adah's eyes shifted to the side for a moment.

"Yes?"

"You don't sound so sure about that," he said, grinning slightly.

Adah narrowed her eyes at the Eel for a moment before letting out a deep huff of a sigh. "Okay, fine. You got me there. But, so help me, if I don't get a hair toss, I'm just going to have to make up for it with copious occasions of hair mussing, which is almost as good."
