Library [03/24]

Sam was on a bit of a sugar high this morning, in addition to being armed with his usual cup of coffee. Luckily, Dean was giving him space and alone time again, so only the books got to witness him being jittery as he set up for the day.

While looking for new skins and things to add to his Sims houses, Sam was surprised to find a skin that looked a lot like one of the guys in his Lawyering class. He thought about maybe adding him to Peter and Brooke's house, just to see what would happen, but in the end, he decided to leave things the way they were ~~pure and untainted by disease~~.

Peter was there, right on time. "Hey."

"Hey," Sam said, as happy to see Peter as always. "How's it going?"

"Not bad." Peter set out the coffee. "You? Have a good Easter?"

"Pretty good. I didn't go to church, but I haven't been struck by lightning yet, so..."

"Pffft." Peter waved it off. "I'm sure that's way down on the list of things to worry about."

"It would be nice if it wasn't, but yeah, I guess it is," Sam said. "How was your Easter? Did you and Nathan do anything?"

"Hit the mainland," Peter replied. "Took in a Mass, had a nice dinner. Convinced Nathan I am never going to golf. How about you guys?"

"We didn't do much of anything," Sam said. "We had some chocolate and I tried to teach Grace about the Easter bunny, but that's about it."

"How much did it take?" Peter asked. "Did she understand about hunting for Easter eggs?"

"I think she picked up on the fact that it involves bunnies and sweets," Sam said. "Hunting for Easter eggs can wait until she's fully mobile."

"You never know," Peter said. "Maybe chocolate's just the motivation she needs to really get going."

Sam laughed. "I don't know if the development of crawling and walking works like that, but it might be worth a shot," he said.

"It's all about the proper motivation," Peter said. "Though if she got hugs at the end of it that could work too."

"Oh, she gets plenty of hugs," Sam said, unable to keep from grinning a little. "She makes herself very huggable."

"That's just something we little siblings do," Peter said.

"It's kind of weird being the middle child now," Sam admitted. "I mean, I still feel like the little brother whenever Dean's around, but then I go and watch Grace and...I don't know, she's just so little and helpless, and suddenly I understand everything Dean says about wanting to protect me no matter what."

"Grace is way cuter than you are though," Peter said.

"Only because she's a baby," Sam said. "That increases her cuteness exponentially."

"Sure," Peter said, after a deliberate pause. "We'll go with that."

"Well, she's cuter than you too, for the record," Sam replied.

"Yeah, I'd hope you'd think so," Peter said. "She's your kid sister!"

"Just because she's my sister doesn't mean I have to think she's cute. I should show you pictures of Dean when he was really little. He was seriously goofy-looking."

"Older brothers always are," Peter said. He took a sip of his coffee as he waited to see if Sam would pick up on the small tease in there.

Sam gave Peter a playful glare at that. "If I'm only half an older brother, does that mean I'm half as goofy-looking?"
