Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Week 8

His shoes had moved on their own that morning, and he wasn't so sure anymore if it had been real or just another glitch.

At any rate, Glitch was standing at the front of the class, very obviously shifting his weight from one foot to the other.

"Today, uhm, I hope you brought your designs to class. Or, well, what you have of your designs for your projects because that's what we'll be going over. I mean, I'll be going over with you."

He bit back a repeat of the last four words before he continued.

"So, if you'd all get what you have out, I'll go around--," he said with a shift and a shuffle as one of his feet almost darted out from underneath him, "I'll go around and check your progress."

There was a pause as he looked down at his notes to make sure he was finished. "Oh, and, don't forget that next week we'll be doing repairs. So, if you or someone you know has something broken, then, bring it in--," he ended abruptly with another shake as his other foot made a decent pass at kicking itself against the desk.

Glitch frowned down at his shoes before smiling nervously at the class. Today was going to be a long day.

[ooc: OCD is up! This was also in the right place the whole time I swear.]

Willow gasped. "Oh my gosh BUNNY!!!!"

What? It was cute.

Re: TA (3/3)

"...I don't owe you the bunny, however," he said, reaching down to scritch between his ears. The bunny cooed happily and flopped, just a little, in his pocket spot.

"Incidentally, this is Andrew. Quote fandom weirdness unquote and all that. The bunny, not the orange."

He sat and held out the orange. Which looked like a regular orange.

"And this is for you. I'm reasonably sure it's a chocolate orange, though it might also be a spiced chocolate orange; I can't quite tell from the smell. But I wanted to apologize."

"Hi Andrew," Willow said, giving the bunny a little wave. She then smiled at the offering. "A chcoolate orange? For me? That's very sweet. By which I mean the gesture, though the chocolate orange is probably sweet as well. That's usually the point."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-03 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Probably. It might be lightly spiced as well. But not bacon. I made sure of that."

...he'd figured out which one that was and set it aside for handing to Miss Lulu, much like a potential explosive would be given to a weapons specialist.

"And an apology. About how I was with, er, magic. And you."

"You believe I'm not inherently bad because I'm a witch?" Willow asked, hopeful. "Honest?"

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
He looked at her oddly.

"I never thought you were bad because you were a Witch. Just that you might be grumpy."

He shook that off.

"But more about my attitude towards, um, magic."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"With me the whole witch/magic thing is intertwined," Willow explained. "But I get your meaning, and accept your apology. Which I would've done without non-bacony chocolate oranges, but I shall enjoy my orange to boot."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess that's true of me too," he admitted somewhat sheepishly.

"But like I said. Sorry."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Do you mind me asking what changed your mind?" Willow asked. "I've got a whole buncha people I'm going to have to convince after graduation, so every bit helps."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
He breathed out.

It wasn't a very wise, thought out change of mind so much as a necessary one. He couldn't have been said, as far as he thought, to have grown or changed or to have learned the error of his ways.

"I have magic myself," he said quietly, "so it seemed rather ridiculous."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah," Willow said. "Well not so applicable to an entire country, but yay for you! How'd you find out? Did you float a pencil?"

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
...what was the fascination with floating things?

"Well," he said comparably, "I fly a broom. But, um, I was having trouble with remembering other people's memories. I thought I was just crazy, but it turned out it was, um, yes. Magic."

He looked at the orange.

"Also, I made that by accident."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Willow blinked, then studied the orange. "The whole thing? Like one minute nothing, next minute orange?"

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
"It doesn't taste like an orange, exactly," he pointed out. It was an important point, for some reason. To his mind, anyway.

"I couldn't get the taste right and I got aggravated. When I got the taste right, it didn't happen."

It seemed very much like someone was teasing him.

"The exercise was just to create it in my mind. It took me a while to get it right."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"So you were trying to create it in your mind and ended up using your outside voice?" Willow asked, trying to see if she understood correctly.

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Outside voice?"

Now he's confused.

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Not so much in your mind as the opposite of that," Willow said.

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh. But outside 'voice'? I didn't say anything."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Sorry," Willow said. "It means saying something out loud instead of quietly."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," he said thoughtfully. He considered it for a moment.

"You mean sort of... instead of whispering and coaxing, sort of, um, 'shouting' at things to make--"

He looked at the orange.

"Oh," he said again.

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't shout at an orange," Willow said. "It might not like it."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't mean shout at the orange," he said. "Shout at myself over the orange. Which, apparently made the orange. I think."

He blushed a little.

"I'm not very good at this at all."

It was hard to say if he meant talking or magic.

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
"It takes time," Willow assured him. "A lot of my early attempts tended to go kerflooey."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not even trying it yet," he said. "I'm just following the books the Queen gave me."

Re: TA (3/3)

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2008-03-04 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Ooo - books!" Willow nodded her approval. "Excellent! It sounds like you're off to a great start."
