Speaking in Tongues [22/02] The Library, Friday afternoon

Karal might have seemed a little distracted, today. Not for any reason at all, really.

"Well, I thought that we could do things simply today. I have an idea or two for the next weeks, but we all need to have a bit of language in common for them to work. The best way to learn a language is to use it. So, for today, let's just talk. We can have conversations, about silly things, or serious things, or anything you want.

Pair up with someone and help them with a language they don't know, teach them some words and phrases, and then try them out." He rubbed his temple, looking a touch amused. "Any accidental offence should be ignored, please. Try not to, but sometimes it simply happens. I once called a Rethwellan dignitary a small, blue turnip, for example."

[ooc: the teaching part can be handwavey, feel free to jump into potentially amusing conversations as people don't quite get the language they've learned right the first time.]

Karal was ready to talk to anyone, in any langauge they wanted.

He might make quite a few mistakes, but he'd try not to call anyone a root vegetable. Once was enough for that.

Hoshi was definitely up to learning a new language today. "Could you say something in Karsite?" she requested.

"I'm sure you know more than me," he said. "Though I won't be able to give you much to learn in return."

It had been a while since Romeo talked to Andrew, and he suspected their languages didn't overlap.

"Andrew! Did you want to teach anything today?"

After talking to Romeo the night before, John was feeling the Al Bhed today. Of course, he only knew the rudimentary phrases he'd learned on his vacation. Things like, I think I'm lost, and, Have you seen the bouncy girl?. They'd gotten him far.

Just a note of an absent Adah today due to a combination of illness, sleeping through it ICly, and a sliiiiiiight bit of her mun being forgetful in ways that thankfully still work ICly. XD

Gonna be handwavey today cos I am hopping on a ferry in about half an hour, and sadly they don't have wireless internets there (YET! The new ones apparently will though!)
