Library [Sunday, February 10]

After a week off from the library, Lee was back behind the desk, eating a banana for breakfast and idly spinning a book around since he didn't want to read it just yet. He figured he could be productive, get some homework done but there just wasn't academic motivation today.

Adah's eyes widened a little with a tilt of her head. "For it's time," she muttered, "it only happened about a hundred years after my time, you know. Biggest war of the nation, highest body counts, completely ripped the country into two different mindsets that were, even a hundred years later, still a problem. But all civil wars are nasty. We were in the middle of one in Africa, too....."

She trailed off, offering a slight, apologetic smile. "Sorry. Southern. It's just in my blood to get a little riled up over it."

"Keep reading," Adah said with a dark sort of nod. "You've got two more coming, on a much bigger scale. And, depending on the publication of that book, if it's recent for this time, there could be more I don't even know about..."

To that question, Adah gave a soft smile, and a nod of her head. "Better," she answered. "Significantly. Closed out the awful week with finally starting up my research at the clinic. It is, unfortunately, definitely not a research center, so my choice of samples to work with are limited, but it's better than nothing, and I have a variety of other organisms to consider outside of the clinic, as well. How about you? Haven't died of boredom yet, I see?"

Although Adah had to guess that he must be pretty close, if he was stuck reading an American history book.

"Because I could not stop for death," Adah quoted loftily, her chin lifting although the rest of her arched back didn't seem to be able to follow, "He kindly stopped for me." Her grin broadened. "I can empathize with that myself. Me, and the influenza virus."

"Partners against, I think, might be a better way to put it," Adah commented lightly, with a grin.

"Busy," Adah answered, just to be obnoxious and, after wrinkling her nose at Eel, she amended it with, "Good. Productive. You know, the librarian in our club adviser..." She trailed off a little, straightening as much as her body would allow to cast a glance around the library, as if hoping to spot him there outside of his office. "I'm sure he's quite glad that he gets to see me yet another additional day of the week."

"A bu," Adah said with a fake simpering, shoulder sagging easily. "So my love of sacrilegiously sleeping in on Sundays and condensing by movements by making the library a stop on my way to work has prevented a fateful meeting with him today. C'est la vie. I wouldn't have minded the tea, though. He never offers me tea..."

Quietly, Adah chuckled a little at that, her grin pushing beyond what she could control as an idea started to formulate a bit in her head for Wednesday. She shook her head, tucking it away until then. "So, you drank it? After you'd felt you'd offended him? That's rather brave..."

Adah knew she probably shouldn't, especially since, considering what she'd known about Bob the Librarian, if he was going to risk killing anyone, it wouldn't most likely be someone as insubstantial in the grand scheme of things as the Eel, but she was far, far too much of a fan of speculation. Her eyes widened, eyebrows lifting in slight alarm.

"Well, how long ago was a while ago?"

Adah gave a slow, thoughtful nod. "Not all poisons necessarily activate immediately. In fact, it wouldn't be very intelligent on his part to use one that did, as that would make his hand in it too obvious. And it might not even be time based; it might work with the chemicals in your body to activate only when certain internal reactions are activated."

Adah actually was fairly confident that such poisons were entirely the product of imagination, but, at the same time, based on how many mispronunciations she'd picked up on when the Eel was reading from the virology book last week, figured he didn't. Thus making her the expert in this case.

Well, considering who was working the clinic tonight...She nodded, somewhat gravely, thinking that this had to be reaching whole new levels regarding methods of how to see more of a person. Really, though, the opportunity was there, she was only taking what was offered to her.

"It wouldn't hurt," she offered.

"There really wouldn't be a point," Adah told him, silently complimenting him on figuring out a potential problem. "I mean, if there was any immediate harm, you'd be already dead, wouldn't you?"
