Interactive Religion [Tuesday, January 22]

"Hello again," Biff said with a small smile. "I guess your weekend was...eventful. Today we're going to address one of the reasons that people cling to religion: the hope that something lives on after the body has died."

He waved his hands towards three Muppets guests. "You might recognize our Chef. He's joined by two friends, and they are professional mourners."

He frowned. "At least, I'm pretty sure that's what he said. Anyway. They're going to sing a traditional dirge called 'Danny Boy,' and then you will pair up and try writing your own."

He grinned. "I spent some time as a professional mourner, so I know a good dirge when I hear one. But first...the Leprechaun Brothers!"

"I can play the pan flute," Andrew offered. "Or, if we want to make it kind of, like, tribal, I can play the didgeridoo."

Romeo may have not been in the right frame of mind for this assignment, because that made him snicker. "Didgeridoo," he repeated. "Yes, we ought to compose a dirge for the didgeridoo, as it will be unique in the world."

"So we can make it all chanty and like oddly rhythmic," Andrew said, liking this idea as well. "Who or what shall we lament?"

"Mercutio," Romeo said, almost before thinking. "He ... a friend. But he should like a didgeridoo dirge, I think." In the sense that he'd laugh his ass of at it. "Is there anyone or anything you wish to add?"

"Bart," Andrew added. "He was my roommate. He thought thought the didgeridoo was funny."

"The word itself is funny," Romeo said. "What if you write a verse for him, I write a verse for Mercutio, and we write the chorus together? because omg I cannot write Shakespeare tonight."

"Sounds like a great idea to me," Andrew replied, already putting pen to paper and thinking about what to write.

Next to him, Romeo was scrawling his own contribution.
