How to Survive Your Own Cooking [Class 2]

"Today," Lulu began, after the class had come into the home ec room, "as it says on your syllabus, we're going to be studying breakfast foods. As it's still fairly early in the class, we'll focus on more basic foods -- if you'd like more advanced recipes, or even some extra instruction, feel free to see me after class and we can discuss it.

"One of the most basic breakfast foods is cold cereal -- generally, in this world at least, you buy it boxed, and simply add milk, potentially some form of sweetener, occasionally sliced fruit such as berries or bananas, or even eat it as is, straight from the box. Unfortunately for you all, you're not getting away with that today. If you'd like, you can attempt to make your own, but that's not required for today's class.

"One of the staples of breakfast -- although, indeed, it is a great food for any time, including snacks -- is the scrambled egg." Lulu demonstrated proper whisking behaviour, then took her students through the process of cooking the eggs so that they'd be able to recognise when their own were finished.

"Breakfast wouldn't be complete without bacon and toast," Lulu continued. "I will add that I added the toast 'recipe' today," and you could hear the airquotes, "because it amused me greatly -- but do try to follow it as best you can. It is helpful, for all that it seems to be frivolous.

"Your assignment today is to make a complete breakfast -- cereal, eggs, bacon, and toast. If you prefer not to make the homemade cereal, you may used boxed cereal, but everything else requires preparation.

"All of the recipes you need are at your stations. Pair up -- in different pairs than last week -- and cook away! Everything you need is available either in your stations, except for ingredients if you wish to make the cereal, or if you wish to make a variation on the scrambled eggs; for those, you can find the moddable ingredients here at the front of the class."

Lulu smiled. "As a drink, I recommend apple or orange juice, as they will help round out the meal. Coffee and hot chocolate, however, are also provided. You can find the drinks at the front of the room as well." She paused. "Feel free to drink them during the class as well."

[OCD will be up in a few is up! I'm hungry now.]

Shawn figured since he might actually have something he had to avoid burning this class, paying attention might be a good idea. He was even taking some notes.

Paying attention and jotting a few notes, Chad had to admit that he got a little stuck on the idea of making homemade cereal. He was definitely going to have to try that this week.

Sam heard the word "toast" and looked nervous. He really, really didn't want to set anything on fire today.

Summer was definitely paying attention. She didn't want to end up burning the classroom down, after all.

People had strange ideas about breakfast around here.

Oh man. It involved a stove. Oh man. Demyx eyed the cook surface warily, edging a little in the direction of the exit.

Well. Makoto, in his girl-guise, looked dubiously at the stove. This would certainly be harder than last week's lesson. Maybe his partner would be able to keep them from disaster?

Shawn wasn't too worried yet. At least they'd been given recipes to follow. This couldn't be that hard.

Mikey stared at the breakfast foods.

Cereal made sense. When dumped onto pizza.

Anything made sense when dumped onto pizza.

This? This didn't involve pizza. There was no sense to be had, here.

[Funky availability heads-up. Not gonna be here through the afternoon and evening for work!]

Carmela pouts a bit at the instruction to find a different partner. After all, she and Mikey had accomplished an awesome breakfast *last* week, when that hadn't even been the topic of the class. Oh well. She looks around for someone to partner up with.

[ooc: and I've got an hour or so before I disappear until evening.]

Sam was a little nervous about having to use appliances, but he figured that the whole point of being here was to learn how to notburn things. Hopefully, his partner would be a little more skilled than he was.

Liir was there, keeping an eye on his own work and the other on the rest of the class. Actual cooking meant actual chances for people to hurt themselves.

...but on a brighter note, he was very chipper today and dressed nicely, for a change.
