By this point, Jen using this post 'cause first one causes browser'splodey was hanging back by a tree, looking as inconspicuous as you could possibly look in a somewhat shiny white one-piece jumpsuit, wearing what appeared to be a pair of fairly snazzy Oakley sunglasses.

[OOC: As per this post (http://time-flyer-5.livejournal.com/1152.html), the scanners won't pick anything up unless you specifically tell me it's okay, and to what extent.]

Isabel was still a bit boggled after talking to Michael, so she got herself another drink and mad her way to the edge of the crowd to try and think.

Re: More General Mingling

The visual scanner hadn't picked up much so far, but the girl making her way to the edge of the crowd brought up what looked like a momentary blip of sorts -- not quite an energy fluctuation, not quite a significant DNA irregularity, but certainly enough to get Jen's attention.

She touched the switch behind her ear, retracting the scanner in a way no normal pair of sunglasses would do, and took a closer look.

The girl looked perfectly human . . . maybe the scanner must have gone wonky in the vortex?

"That's different," Isabel said, raising an eyebrow. "Pretty neat actually."

Deciding to put aside her worries about Michael and what she hadn't told him till later, she smiled. "Hi. I'm guessing you're a newbie?"

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"That'd be right," Jen said, masking her curiosity and giving the girl a polite, if not outright friendly, nod. "Considering you look pretty comfortable around here, I'm guessing you're not?"

[OOC: Pardon the icon, I seem to have a shortage of icons in which she's not either woeful or pissed off at the moment . . .]

"Far from it," Isabel laughed. "I've been here for two years. So I'm an old hand at this place. Of course having said that, I'm just guaranteed that something weird is going to happen that I've never seen before."

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"As opposed to all the other weird things that happen that you have seen before?"

It was actually an honest question.

Billy couldn't help but notice the uniform that was vaguely reminiscent of outfits he'd seen back home.

"Hi there. New student?"

dunno if it's something the scanner's would be scanning for, but feel free to pick up the energy signature from his way too advanced fake leg.

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a definite energy reading coming from the boy's leg. Cyborg? Jen wondered, making note of the fact.

"I am," she answered. "Jen Scotts. You new too?"

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] l1ttle-billy.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope, I've been here for about a year and a half now. William Kessler, but everyone calls me Billy."

Re: More General Mingling

Jen nodded, and held out a hand. This was more social than she was used to being, but if there was anything she'd learned from her year in Silver Hills it was that she'd have to learn to fit in and fast if she was going to make this situation any easier. "Nice to meet you, Billy."

"Likewise." he nodded, shaking her hand. "Where are you from? Or in what might be a very strange question, when are you from?"

Demyx had food, and that made him happy. The white-and-black caught his attention, thouh, and he had to wander over and see what it was. "Oh, good," he said, mostly to himself. "You have better taste than zebra stripes!"

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Zebra stripes?" echoed a bemused Jen -- bemused for more reasons than one, since she was getting yet another slightly unusual reading off this boy and was strongly starting to suspect that there was definitely something wrong with the scanner.

[identity profile] electric-sitar.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. The Superior had this really awful coat that was black and white sorta like zebra stripes." Demyx wrinkled his nose. "It was really bad. But then, so was he." He shrugged. "Anyway, hi, I'm Demyx. Are you new?"

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Just arrived," Jen said, and while the readings were a little bit strange, well . . . so was he. "My name's Jen."

[identity profile] electric-sitar.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Demyx would say it was from being a Nobody. Who knew for sure, though. "Nice to meet you, Jen. Do you like music?" Because it all came down to that.

Jenny wandered by, munching on a cookie. Since Jenny had no idea there was anything around scanning she needed to block, Jen's scanners probably freaked right the hell out at her energy signature.

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Why, yes. Yes they did. As a matter of fact, the readings lit the scanners up so brightly that Jen had to retract them, swearing and rubbing at her eyes.

Jenny paused to blink at Jen. "S'there a problem?"

Others dressed in all-white; Naminé was less certain around that than she would have been a week or so ago. But it wasn't an Organization cloak, and it wouldn't do to be strange or rude, so she nodded slightly to the other girl and hoped she didn't seem odd.

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
There was that odd half-vague reading again, like with Demyx's. She'd been told this place was unique, and the number of hits she was getting with the scanner was definitely bearing that out.

Interesting.

"Hi," Jen said; this whole being social thing was still a little awkward.

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Hello," Naminé said, smiling a bit uncertainly. "Are you another new student? Welcome to Fandom."

She hoped she didn't seem rude, to the other girl.

Re: More General Mingling

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Jen had had to put up with Eric Myers for the better part of a year; that had completely redefined her concept of rudeness, so Naminé was the pinnacle of politeness in comparison.

"Thanks," she said. "I'm new, yeah. Jen Scotts."

"My name is Naminé," she said, bowing her head slightly. "It's nice to meet you. If no one's warned you, this island is very strange, but it's safe, I promise."
