Ethics [Thursday, December 13, 1st period]

"I trust you all completed your childcare assignments to my satisfaction," Anakin said from his position behind his desk.

Why yes, he was going to blow right past the part where he'd been an action figure last week.

"Today you will tell me--in detail--what you learned from your experiences with parenthood. Next week will be your final exam. I'll try not to kill you."

He could be joking. With Anakin it was really hard to tell.

"I learned that Kabuto is completely and utterly useless as a parent." Ino said grumpily.

"How so?" Anakin asked, beginning to take notes.

"He promised to dismember the baby if I made him take it for a night - and then he's completely avoided me for the entire week. I had to do all the work!" Ino crossed her arms.

"Dismember it?" Anakin said, voice getting dangerous.

Ino was all for getting Kabuto in trouble after the last week. She nodded, "Dismember. He complained about it not being organic but said that he could probably figure something out anyway. As if I'd ever let him do something like that to Kabu-chan."

"Actually, Ino, you weren't around much for me to take him off your hands," Kabuto said, stepping up behind her. "You seemed to have everything under control, and never actually asked me for anything after that first day. I wasn't about to interrupt the joys of motherhood."

Anakin looked from one to other. "Explain."

Ino turned to glare at Kabuto. "I didn't see you after class that day. Which, considering you live across the hall from me, is pretty damn bizarre. Otherwise I would've." Maybe. Possibly. "And what was I supposed to do after you threatened to take apart Kabu-chan? Leave him with you? I don't think so."

"Did you really think I was serious?" Kabuto looked vaguely affronted. "I wouldn't do that. And considering we live across the hall from each other, you always could have knocked. I was just studying. We have finals coming up, afterall." He was a very practiced liar, though there was enough truth in there. Kabuto wouldn't have taken the droid apart...but only because he didn't know enough about mechanics to put it back together again.

"It's your responsibility as a father to make an effort to be in your child's life," Anakin lectured. "Even a droid child for a class assignment. And taking them apart isn't a way to get on the mother's good side."

You know what? Ino just about loved Master Skywalker right about now.

Ino looked smug. Take that, Kabuto!

Kabuto bowed slightly. "My apologies, Master Skywalker. If there's a next time, I'll be sure to make more of an effort even if my partner does not." He was being much more humble than Ino, at the moment. "She did do a very good job, however. I think Ino-san would make a very good mother."

"Uh-huh," Anakin said, not exactly buying the humility. "Ino, what did you learn from your time as a mother?"

"That you've got to pay a lot of attention to them, so babies totally eat into your socializing time. Which made things boring." Ino said, "And Kabu-chan didn't like being around loud noises at all, so I had to work on my volume." Because she was naturally fairly loud, and Kabu-chan really hadn't liked her yelling at him.

Kabuto bit his tongue on a comment about Ino being loud, and politely bowed out of the conversation - at least for the time being.

"Good," Anakin said, smiling at Ino. "I'm glad you got something out of the experience. Other than, I'm hoping, the urge not to repeat it for quite some time."

"I assure you," Ino told him, "that I have no plans whatsoever to have kids for, like, the next decade. Even if Kabu-chan was sweet in a baby droid kind of way."
