Keeping Your Wits About You... [Monday 2nd Period 10-11] Class # 13 DANGER ROOM

Once again they were meeting in the Danger Room!

Wilson was leaning against the table with all the morning treats, sipping his coffee and looking vaguely amused. As soon as everyone was gathered and had their coffee, tea, whatever he cleared his throat and called them over to listen to their latest Danger Room assignment.



"Good morning," he began, setting his coffee off to the side and putting his hands in his pockets.

"So far this semester, we've focused on keeping your wits about you when it was just yourself. Today we're going to tackle something infinitely more tricky."

Looking a bit rueful, he grinned at them.

"Today, you're going to be attempting to navigate ways to protect others who seem hell bent on self destruction. Believe me when I say, it will be hard to keep your wits calm, while at the same time trying to be one step ahead of the reckless behavior of others."

Something Wilson -coughthankyouHousecough- had plenty of experience with.

"As I call your name, you'll go into the scenario. I'd give you all hints about what's on the other side of that door but most of the time, these situations are feel it out as you go. Everybody ready? Okay. Good luck!"

"Hopefully not small children. I haven't had enough caffeine yet," she said.

Lana's eyes widened. "Oh, he wouldn't do that to us, would he? Oh what am I saying? He made us play games with the devil, of course he would."

"Well something about remaining calm? And reckless behaviour? It sounds like kids to me," Isabel explained. "But after surviving everyone turning wee last spring, I'm pretty sure I can handle it."

"I spent a huge chunk of the weekend lost in the woods with Jim - who was a panther cub at the time." Her smile faltered for a second, then she got it back in place.

"I hung out with Peter. Who was still himself fortunately. Then our dinner was interrupted by Jack," Isabel said with a wry smile. "A jealous Jack. Talk about ways to make you facepalm."

"I can only imagine," Lana said with a grin.

"Fortunately Peter didn't take it personally. So have you started getting ready for Christmas yet?" she asked.

"Not really," Lana said. "I don't really have that many people to get presents for. There's no one back home, so just some people here mostly."

"Plus," she said with a smile. "I'm still recuperating from getting all my college applications turned in."

"God that was brutal," Isabel agreed. "I finished the week before Thanksgiving. I wanted to get it done so that I could enjoy the holiday."

"So far I've gotten my Christmas cards done, and I've ordered some stuff on line. But I've still got a ton of things to do. Cookies for one. Finishing shopping, and then seeing about getting a small tree for my room." She gets a bit excited about the holiday.

"What do you think it is?" Wyatt asked, leaning over and bumping his shoulder against Isabel's.

"Lana and I were discussing the possibility of it being small children," Isabel admitted, bumping back. "Or it could be some of our classmates in a life or death situation. You know how that can go."

"And spandex?" she leered. "I can appreciate spandex in this situation."

"Spandex is a privilege, not a right," Wyatt said solemnly. "One that I have earned."

Isabel smiled happily, thinking of...well, you figure it out. "Absolutely. So you'll be Super Wyatt? Off to save the day?"

Wyatt stood up and struck a heroic pose, hands on his hips. He looked down at his plain white shirt. "I need a big 'W' on my chest, don't I?"

"Surely." Slowly, she dragged two fingers over his chest, creating a neat, but very bright red W.

"How's that?"
