It was chilly outside.

To a girl who was raised in a lab and has never been outside for more than twenty minuets before coming to Fandom?  It is downright freezing.

Therefore, it was a bundled-up and miserable-looking Anemone that opened the library right on time, thermos of hot coco held tightly to ward off the evils of the weather.

Anemone's off in the stacks, cleaning and tidying before the end of the day. There's a Gulliver at the front desk, or you can just holler if you need help.

OOOOooooooo! FastHappyBoy! Gulliver burbled happily and wiggled his nose at Bart.

His Girl? Gulliver blinked and looked off down the row he'd seen her vanish into. Oh, she's that way. But Bart wants to pet Gulliver first, right? Right?

Of course he did! Bart glanced around, but not seeing Anemone, his attention went back to Gulliver. Giving him a half hug, half petting tackle, Bart was effectively distracted from just about everything.

Like a goldfish on crack.

Gulliver's happy purring indicated just how pleased he was to subvert the attentions of FastHappyBoy. FastHappyBoy always gave good pettings.

Anemone finally emerged from the shelves with an armload of books, grinning when she noticed the boy/panduppy tackle-pile. "Hey Bart!"

Someday Bart too would have a panduppy. Someday...

"Hi Anemone!" Bart greeted cheerfully. And at a normal speed. Having to slow down for petting slowed everything down with it.

"Looks like you found your fan club," she teased, setting the books on the counter. "Gulliver isn't being a bully, is he? He can be rather pushy about pettings."

Bart just laughed, rubbing Gulliver's head. "Nah, he's fun!"

"Cool. So, what can I do for you then? Or did you just come to steal Gulliver's affections?" Anemone hopped up to sit on the desk, feet swinging. "Oh! Or did you decide to come entertain us? Gulliver and I don't get many visitors, although we did have an ostrich a few weeks ago."

"An ostrich?" Bart tilted his head, imagining Gulliver and Anemone riding the ostrich like cowboys. "No fair, I don't get to ride ostriches."

"I didn't ride him! He's too...fluffy! And pretty! I petted him and feed him donuts." Anemone blinked in surprise. "A ride would have been neat, I guess, but he was really really fluffy. His feathers were like THIS BIG!" she held her arms wide to demonstrate. "I wanted to keep him."

Bart pouted a little. "Riding would have been awesome though! And you could have worn cowboy hats and tied people up with rope!"

"...I want a cowboy hat!" Anemone clapped her hands happily. "Next year I'll be a cowboy for Halloween, and we can try and lasso Gulliver! Or tie up people who don't give good treats!"

"He'd be pretty easy to lasso," Bart told her, scratching Gulliver behind the ear type thing. "Just pet him and he'll stay still!"

"True." The evil glint of plotting began to shimmer in her eyes. "But we have so many classmates to practice on...be a shame to waste them."

Bart looked confused for point five seconds before his eyes widened and mouth formed a small 'O' of surprise. "We could!"

"We could!" she agreed. "What's the pranking holiday? Ides of March? We could totally get away with it."

"There's a stabbing holiday?!?" If possible, Anemone looks even more excited. "I thought it was the pranking holiday. Fooling? Something like that. It's in the Spring, I know that."

"I can't believe there's a stabbing holiday. This era is strange. Cool, but strange."

"That's April Fool's!" Bart flailed. "No stabbing!"

"No stabbing on April Fool's, got it. Unless it's one of those fake knives, the ones that the blade retracts into the handle? That would be a really good prank." Anemone beamed at Bart angelically. "Don't worry, I'm not going to stab anyone. Well, I'm not planning on stabbing anyone, anyway."

Which was good. As Bart was honor bound as the next Flash to fight crime.

"Good!" He nodded seriously. Then bounced again. "Does that mean we get to ride ostriches?"

Anemone's never tried to kill anyone that didn't do something to deserve it, so she doesn't exactly view stabbing as a crime.

"I guess so, if we can find some and they don't mind trading rides for treats. Mine went away." She pouted. "He was a nice sweet birdie, and I left him in the library with more donuts for snackies, and the next day he was gone. It was when there were all the other animals running around, so maybe he went home with them. I wanted him to stay."

"Maybe..." Anemone stopped to think about it. "I don't rule anything out. I don't know where he came from, so I can't ask him back for another visit."

"Think we could catch one of the deer in the Preserve? It's not an ostrich, but it might still be fun."
